Just wanted to post my experience with this mod. I sourced a used throttle body from a 550i. Also purchased a brand new pigtail for the 550i. I followed this exact wire diagram( I actually just re pinned the new 550 connector with the old m62 wires.
Now the wires on the end of the m62 pins are smaller than the new n62 pins so after re pinning the new connector I enlarged the holes at the end with a spike tool to actually fit on the n62 throttle body.
The throttle body(n62) bolts directly to the flange with no modification need( I have the m60 manifold)
Now my experience driving with it(Dinan intake stock maf stock intake tube to throttle body, m60 manifold Dinan cat back Dinan stage 3 tune.) car pulls very strong(butt Dyno) but I did notice that to take full advantage of the throttle body you need to also upgrade or in large the intake tube before the throttle body the stock tube is only 78mm. I made a custom tube to fit and can definitely say(again butt dyno) it definitely helped power through out the entire rev rang especially up top. Was a great mod especially for the price in my opinion.
I got a throttle body off of Ebay with the pigtail. It turned out to have different color wires. I went through TIS and figured out where each wire goes and made up a spreadsheet. I removed and replaced the TB several times trying to get it to work with no luck. I eventually ordered a new TB and after resoldering the plug for about the tenth time the car fired right up with no problems.
I have an appointment with the dealer to install the stage 4 engine and transmission tune. I was going to go with DUDMD but because of the transmission tune I figured I would let the dealer do both. I can't wait to feel the extra power. Now I just need to get the 3.15 diff in.

1. Wire colors don't matter, pin number to pin number do. I bought a pigtail that none of the colors matched up with what has been documented and mine still fired right up because I matched pin/function to corresponding ping/function.
2. Dima does an Alpina trans tune, he doesn't have the ability to do a Dinan trans tune. For the price you pay at the dealer, I'm willing to bet you could pay for a dyno tune with Dima and gain more power in the end.
The reason I did the color chart was to make it easier to follow during the soldering process. That is to say I agree with you but just took it one step further. Dima price wise is about the same as the dealer for the same tune. I did not know that he had an tranny tune? Also not that I ever plan on selling the car Dinan is more widely known than DUDMD. It started life in 00 and I figured I would keep it that way.

You called it Piotrc70, even though I called in advance and made an appointment I got surprised with an additional $400 labor quote at the dealer. With both tunes that took the cost to almost $900! My DME will be on it's way to Dima today.

That's really crappy of them. Any idea on the additional labor cost? It shouldn't take them any more than an hour to flash both. Shoot, I think with flashing both AND taking a spin with Dima, I spent maybe 2 hours there? I think you'll be really pleased with getting the flash. If you're doing the Alpina trans tune, it takes a little getting used to. The trans likes to stay in the highest gear for the speed (guessing for better mileage) so if you needed to step on it say 20-30% to catch that yellow light, it may not be enough to downshift like with the factory tranny tune. Everything else from there is an upside though.
This sounds to me like a good thing. I find the factory trans tune a little too eager to downshift at times when it's capable of doing what I wanted without a downshift. Waiting until you're a little closer to max power for the current gear / RPM before downshifting might not be quite as smooth an experience in some ways but it's possibly a little better for gas mileage and definitely gives a little more driver control over what the car is doing without having to shift manually.
I asked and Dima said no trans tune.
The dealer said it would take two hours at $165 per hour. Additionally if it took more hours they would charge more. $165/hr seems a bit high to me but I guess they have to pay for the coffee and cookies in the waiting are somehow. The service writer also commented that they don't do many Dinan upgrades any more.

Sent my DME in on Wednesday and just got it back. Plugged it in and the car fired right up. I'm in the middle of swapping the diff to a 3.15 so I can't drive it yet.

Anyone local to IL interested in a prefacelift intake manifold?
I am in the process of doing this upgrade as well. I’ve already contacted DUDMD and he suggested the MK4 MAF which I got off eBay and I decided to spend the $$$ to get the big bore throttle body upgrade with wiring harness from Turner. Three questions:
1). What is being used to connect the larger MAF to the larger TB?
2). Does the stock harness connect to the MK4 MAF?
3). I have a custom made flange that connects to the M60 IM. Does the inlet of the flange need to be bored out for the larger diameter TB? I understand there is a possibility of the flange breaking when trying to increase the ID.

1, I just ordered some miscellaneous hoses and adaptors until I was able to hook things up. The hard part is connecting to the TB, I ended up cutting down the original intake boot and sliding a hose over it.
2, You install your MAF sensor in the new 4" housing.
3, The TB should bolt right up in place of the old one. It is only a few MM larger on the inside.

My m62 TB was faulty and threw codes p0221 amd p0120. I figured this was a good time to try this n62 TB upgrade.
Purchased a used one on ebay along with the n62 connector. Cleared codes and installed the n62 TB. Now on cold starts the car idles very violently, entire car shakes for about 30 seconds. Once warmed up she drives and idles fine. That is, until the next cold start.
Anyone have an idea what could be wrong...?
EDIT: she runs fine now, I'm. Not entirely sure what happened I did the pedal 30 second key in reset prodedure or the Dme readapted the TB itself.
Thanks

You have to reset the throttle position. I think it is turn on the key wait 30sec, turn the key off, turn the key back on and start. I can't remember if a battery nap is required? You may also have to reset the adaptations with INPA. They were all learned with the old TB and maybe even a bad one. You could just wait for the car to relearn as well.
