Hi all,
my car is an E38 750iL, production date 08.06.00 DG51230
I have to change ABS module, old one gives ABS/DSC/BRAKE lights.
I used NCS expert to code the new module to my car's ZCS, but whatever I do with NCS expert I have ASC5 instead of DSC in the module list. Trying to code leads to NCS error in module recognition.
I used ZEKO to check for options linked with current ZCS, with no luck whatever I try...
I tried also BMW decoder to check SA, ASC/DCS box is already ticked. (BTW, I have only one box to select ASC AND DSC...)
Here are the figures, untouched and given by NCS EWS and IKE modules (including checksum):
EWS
VIN: WBAGJ01000DG51230 3
GM: 44010004 M
SA: 240104F7A6104263 Z
VN: 1D042842D5 N
IKE
VIN WBAAA0000DG51230 3
GM SA VN same as above for EWS
Anyone who can help me sort things out?
Hi is it a new or used module you have fitted? What's the part number of the unit?

Hi,
it is a used E39 module, known to be working good.
Part number is 0 265 950 067
I have another one coming from a 740i E38, don't know if it's healthy or not. Part number 0 265 950 001
My faulty module is P/N 0 265 950 002
Anyway, whichever module I fit I have the same problem with NCS saying that ASC5 is fitted to my car instead of DSC.

There is something really odd with my car's ZCS:
I if go with ZEKO entering only "Series E38", "Production date 08.06.00", "Type GJ01" and VIN, I have basic GM, SA and VN.
Entering manually those numbers in NCS expert gives the same freaking ASC5!
If I begin from basic GM, SA, and VN and add manually all the hexadecimal values for each options (including 0210 DSCIII) I have the same ASC5 in NCS Expert!
What's wrong here?
Do I need updated DATEN files?
Could someone try their own NCS software with my full ZCS to see what happens?

What now? Am I stuck in this situation with no chance to find a solution?
My local dealer asks for a ridiculous amount of money just to plug the car into their computer, and I will have to pay for any extra working time if ever it doesn't go straight to the expected result.
Even worse, I will have to pay anyway if it finally doesn't work!
So for now, dealer is not an option.
Anyone here already experienced the same situation?
I tried Tools32, but I don't have ZCS coding available in the job list for the DSC module (DSC3, no communication with DSC57)
Next step will be to try WinKFP, or even PASoft BMW scanner to see what I can do...

Still thinking about my problem...
As a starting point, lets's assume that ASC5 is normal for my car, SA is good and NCS expert sees what it it supposed to see.
When I select ASC5 module to recode, the files associated are all DSC57.* thus the error while coding.
How do I select the associated ASC5 files? (just to give it a try...)

Update, I gave a try to the other module and... was able to code it. What happened with the other one I don't know but problem seems to be solved about coding. Working module from E39 doesn't mean necessarily compatible with E38, at least in my case.
I still have the lights illuminated however (with same errors recorded by new used module freshly coded, front and rear right speed sensors and now steering angle...).
I now have to trace down whether it is the ABS module, sensors or wiring...
Any hint on where I should start, any known weak point with wiring?
You will need to carry out steering angle sensor calibration, and possibly lateral and yaw sensor calibration as well.

The 0 265 950 067 module is not from an e39. It is an asc module, not dsc. It comes from a 2003 X5. That is why it did not work.
