    DIY/WIP: E65 rear fridge/coolbox in an E38

Came across one of the 4 E65s with a rear fridge and no rear A/C shipped to Canada in a local junkyard. $80 later and it was mine, with a short pigtail consisting of four wires:

Ground, Light, Power and one to the E65 Power Module.

It's not a direct fit, as the bracket is completely different from the E65 to the E38. However, I'm in the process of making a bracket that will hold it in place using the existing holes in the partition that divides the trunk and the cabin.

Pics of it in the E65:

Bracket removal (can't align it in the hole with the bracket on):

That's awesome! I wonder how many of these fridge E65's are in the US. I should keep my eyes open for something like this since E65's are starting to show up in the junkyards here.

Ah, so any E65 760li? I never see those anywhere but I'll keep my eyes open for one. It would be a sweet addition to my 750il.

Those won't work. To attempt a retrofit, you need to get the one without the rear AC module, which was standard on the 760 (or very common)

There were 17 E65s with this fridge. 4 are in Canada.

Apparently it's been there for several years.
