Matt recently released a video about what it takes to be in a one take. He likes to do a stock, tuned, and highly modified look at each model. Unfortunately that means that the e34 is covered. He does say he makes exceptions for unique cars he'd want to try , so hopefully you can get in on that loop hole.

As for the debt, that's crazy. I hope you are able to knock it down some. But that's more than what I have in a mortgage.
I have a similar situation with funding my car project. I can't use our income. Only what I make selling parts and side work. That wasn't a problem for a while. I did about $7-9000 of side engineering projects a year but when I moved to my current employer, I had to give it up because they use my engineering license on stuff. It was supposed to be an issue since I'm making like 25%more a year, but somehow that money isn't available to me. And in my case I make 75% of our combined income, so unless I get a buyer for the turbo setup, I won't be joining your club.

I feel you! My E24 project is deadin the water because of a similar situation so I have to live vicariously through your amazing E34's

Yeah that makes sense. Too bad.

My wife makes 100% of our income right now, so technically she can demand whatever she likes, I have a feeling that not much will change even after I began making money

Before I retired and was still in outside sales - commission checks were always a source of unknown income -- it helped to fund a slush fund that zI tried to keep $15-20 K in for unforeseen expenses!

Started tearing down my friends spare S62 yesterday. We are still unsure what we are going to do with it. It spun a rod bearing and the crank needs refinishing, might possibly need a new Rod as well. My friend is building an e34 S62 just like mine with my help. He bought a salvage titled M5 and is stripping it down. He then found this motor on EBay for $1,500 and so bought it as well.

beautiful build. Are you overall satisfied? Or do you wish you went a different route? I have a 540, and was thinking about s52 turbo build but now I look at this it almost looks like it was meant to be. Would you change anything or do anything differently. What was the hardest part to the swap?

Over all I'm very satisfied. I need to swap in my new springs, and fix some cosmetic things, but as far as the engine swap goes, yes, I love it. The other night I was driving up a mountain toward Yosemite National Park and I never had to downshift from 6th. The power is always just right there, but the car is very restrained when you just want to cruise around. It feels like the motor was meant for this car, it is a perfect fit in my opinion. If I were to do it again, I might attempt to find a different brake booster, taking the hydroboost from the 750il made the swap extremely complicated. I'd say the hardest part of the swap was the hydroboost system, the wiring was also a pain though. I spent dozens of hours looking at wiring diagrams and trying to figure what went where and what did what. However, the wiring would be significantly less difficult for you since I've posted my wiring data online. An LS swap would be easier and a turbo S52 would be cool, but the S62 is just such an awesome motor and fits the personality of the e34 very well. Plus, not many people have done the swap, so it has some cool factor :P

Would you say there is room for a turbo? I might be able to sell my s52 and pick up a s62.

Not likely. There is even less space than the M60 and not many people have successfully turboed an M60 e34.

Turbo M52 is much better than S52 IMO. Cheaper and stronger with just a tad more weight, less displacement. I built a turbo E34 with an M52 and S52 cams that made 376 and it was a very fun car. After having done that, I would still prefer an S62 E34 and it's on my list of things to do.

I can't imagine how fun this car must be to drive! Would love to see the factory airboxes retrofit into this swap.

This is an awesome swap and one I have dreamed of doing, but, the same with my e30. I have an s62, but, I already have a functioning obd1 converted m62 swap with a rebuilt m62...so I'm almost thinking of supercharging that instead of doing the s62. I'm just wanting a little bit more.

The s62 looks so cool though.

Idk...I constantly waver in what I want to do. But props to you for actually doing it...with that you always have the supercharging option for even more, which in a 5 is perfect.

Just to update this thread a bit. I finally took the car on a longer trip from Fresno down to where i currently am going to school in Southern California. I have now driven my car about 500 miles. I am about to change the oil again because of the new rod bearings. So far the car is doing really well, despite having some issues with ABS. I think I may need to bleed my lines again, but other than that, I love it. Though I really need to get AC working sooner rather than later or this car will be undrivable come summer. The power delivery is absolutely wonderful. Compared to my e46 M3s it is definitely faster, or at least it feels faster because of the torque, and so I can claim ignorance as to the actual facts for now :P

Oh I almost forgot. I installed H&R springs. I like this set up a lot. Though I am coming from cut springs, so I really can't say much. Though my former e34 had bilstein and H&R as well and I love it in that car as well.

I have a 94 e32 with the 4.0 m60 in it. I have the opportunity to get an s62 with 6speed and Ecu for a decent price. Other than wiring should everything else be pretty straight forward.

Yes, It should be basically the same as what I did on mine. Maybe slightly easier because of more room?

Here are the happenings of this weekend. Picked up some Apex PS-7 wheels. 18x9 With spacers I am running ET11 in the front and ET21 in the rear.

Timothy, what issues did you have with the driveshafts. Going from the automatic to the 6 is there a difference in length? Will I need to have a front shaft made?

I didn't have an automatic. It was always a 6 speed. You will need the driveshaft from an e34 540i 6 speed. Or you can have a custom one made I suppose.

Hi there. It's a AC Schnitzer S5 silhouette setup that I'm using as the basis for some fender flares.

For those of you that follow this thread, the car was down for a couple months due to a series of unfortunate events and no time to fix them. However, it's back up and running with a new 420G that I bought on eBay. It was an e46 M3 SMG transmission that did not come with a bellhousing and that had been in an accident and sheared off the smg pump mounts. They listed it as unusable except for gear parts. For my case however, it was perfect! I swapped over the bellhousing from my blown 420g and spaced out the pilot bearing and away I went. New transmission with 109,000 miles on it for $245.
