I've made a lot of progress over this last week. I got my OBD2 port to function finally. I also wired in the temp sensor, I will update the wiring diagrams soon. I installed my Dinan cold air intakes and got my Air temp sensor relocated to the cone filter. Finally I put the hood on. All the mechanical work is done and the hood could finally go back on. Felt really great to have the car completely put back together. Very exciting moment
I also installed an X5 radiator expansion tank. Still not perfect but better than that e36 tank.
I cleaned up the carpet too. It was in really bad shape, this picture may still make the carpet look bad but you should have seen it before.

What are you going to do for an exhaust system and rear tips?
Where will you put the tow hook?
No I meant so you could tow an RV.

I got the exhaust welded in today. The car sounds great! In the video it sounds a bit raspy, but in person it isn't quite so bad. Here is the link to the YouTube video with the exhaust sound

The car is still going into limp mode after a bit if driving with a couple misfire codes. Still trying to track down the culprit...I'll update when I figure it out. When not in limp mode it pulls like a mule though

Nice work! Now a couple driving video's.
See if you can get Matt Farah (smoking tire) to drive it!!!
He had one and would probably jump at the chance to get in for a run!!
Fantastic!!!! When I read about the desire for center tips, I was at work and could not see. I was yelling at you in my mind. But now that I see them, it doesn't look all that bad really.
If you ever decide to sell this car, I would like to be the first to know.
Amazing project.
I'm extremely excited to report that after getting INPA software and running some diagnostics we solved the problem! Injector #4 was not working. We disconnected the manifold and sure enough, the injector had become disconnected somehow. Probably during install of the motor. I must have just missed it. The car runs absolutely perfect now! Here is a quick video of what the s62 sounds like without its manifold.

Will do! I doubt I'll ever be able to get what I'd want out of it. I currently have $13,000 into the project and I'm not done. Car still needs to be painted, wheels need to be refinished, brackets needs to be fabricated for things under the hood and little odds a ends here and there. As far as 400 hp builds go I suppose it's not all that expensive though. $13,000 includes the car and practically every bolt and part I bought for the swap. I have an excel spreadsheet posted on here showing what I've spent my money on. I had a very specific budget. My wife won't let me spend any money on my cars that didn't directly come from my other cars. Haha!

I sympathize with your budget restraints - my wife's cousin lived with us in Plano for 5 years, free room and board while attending Baylor Dental School. We are getting even now as was we get free dental (labor), we still pay him for cleaning and lab fees as he still has to pay his hygienist and the lab. I guess we just paid it forward so to speak... My wife doesn't cook, only makes reservations, so we also took him out to eat at least once a week.........

Haha! Dental school is extremely expensive. I am graduating with about $400,000 in student debt. My wife is a nurse so we live off her income. I buy and sell used BMWs from time to time so I was able to build this thing with that money. She doesn't mind so long as I don't actually spend any of her income on it. But yes, contrary to popular opinion dentistry is not the cut and dry money maker people assume. Most dentists are in debt for the larger part of their lives. They become numb to the debt hanging over their heads and quite a few get way in over their heads and die poor. Sad... My wife and I have a 5 year agreement, we live off her income for 5 years and throw every last penny I make into my debt. Fingers crossed in 6 years from now I will be debt free.

Granted I am going to one of the most expensive private schools in the country. Expensive doesn't mean best, it just means someone at the top is extremely bad at handling money and the school is going broke so they have to raise tuition :P We do use tens of thousands of dollars in materials in dental school unlike medical school, but we also bring in money for the school since our services to patients are not free. It's just an insanely broken system.

Drive by accelerating in 3rd gear. The road noise pretty much drowns the engine noise out. I love where the sound is at with this magnaflow muffler though. Not too loud but louder than a stock e39 M5. Plus it was cheap.
