So has anyone else had a random CEL even though there aren't any DTC's, and constant aux fan on low? CAN adapter seems to work intermittently :/

Yea! Just got my car running too and then the stupid CEL is on and off and aux fan constant low. So do you have both exact symptoms? If so the likelihood of it being a wiring issue goes down drastically. I am thinking there may be slightly different CANbus messages through E46 years that are slightly incompatible with what Gpeterson captured. Is your DME MSS54HP too?
Yes aux fan is on constantly on low. I don’t have the random cel on off, if I turn on the ignition to 2 and start within 4-5 seconds then the cel will shut off after start, but if I turn it on and leave it in ignition 2 for more than 4-5 seconds then start, then my cel will stay on. When I restart right after the cel will not even come on at all.

I just want to post that myself and other fellow S54 swappers have all had terrible issues with this device just absolutely not working as intended. We have reached out to Garry via dozens and dozens PM's and emails for over a year and it just goes nowhere, even offering engineering assistance and diagnosis as some of us work in those trades. At some point during this device being sold the PCB and other components were updated (black vs white connector was the marker I believe) and that later revision seems to have many problems.
It overheats due to the Voltage regulator being undersized.
This causes the MCU to stop working.
This stops everything it was intended to do to not work.
Also the fan low speed circuit is always enabled which causes cooling performance issues.
CEL illuminates in key position 2, and stops illumination in run, but I actually have an active CEL.
My active CEL is due to a time clock issue, related to this device not working and broadcasting a timestamp, and thus the DME throws a CEL.
AC control works, until the device overheats, which is about 5 minutes.

Yeah mine worked great,l when new, but after 2 months it stopped for some reason, Dan always on low, CEL doesn’t work, and the AC doesn’t function as it should either.
