Has anyone tried out the bluetooth OBDll reader for their Bimmer? It sounds interesting. It will read the codes and communicate them to a software package on your smartphone via bluetooth. It is said to both read the codes and gives possible specific causes. My OBDll system has gone whacko since I got a spark when reattaching the ground cable to my battery. The service/maintenance lights are irritating and my radio display defaults back to time before I can change the stations (although the radio itself works fine).
I have one, and it works fine for my e39.
However, it sounds like you have much bigger problems going on that a code reader alone will not fix. I wouldn't even know where to start with advice with a wierd electrical problem like that, sorry.
