    Instrument cluster with aftermarket gauge

I've tried to search but can't find the thread somebody had removed the factory coolant gauge out of the cluster and replaced it with either an aftermarket coolant gauge or an ODB2 reader type gauge. Does anyone know who, or has done this?

Friend of mine removed the stock temp gauge and installed a PLX display. PLX is modular so a singular digital display can be toggled between coolant temp or oil pressure or anything else as long as you have the correct module installed. You daisy chain the modules. PLX is expensive but no one makes higher quality and no one makes digital modular units like they do.

What was your method to remove the front clear plastic to fit the bezel? Doing this with a VEI D1

You obviously haven't take a cluster apart. See the BIG hole where the speedo and tach are? once you actually take it apart, the new bezel goes in there...

Well pardon my ignorance, my gauge is one piece. I don't own a PLX, and I don't know if they have removable bezels like the AEM gauges. I'd assume most gauges aren't meant to be fit in a cluster housing, but slide into a fitting. I couldn't find it in my Bentley manual

Why be a dick? I don't understand. I'm just trying to get some useful information who have done this before. Whether it be a stupid question to you or not, doesn't really matter to me. Butters has answered plenty of "stupid" questions on here and didn't feel obligated to act superior, and that's who I was hoping to get an answer from. I guess this isn't why you are active on the FI forum?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a dick. Looking at the drawing of a D1, it looks like if avout 15/16's with a 7/8's mounting screw.

Looks like the mount is going to be the problem.

Once you seperate the gauge face from the front cover, you might be able too just skide the D1 into the space, just as you would with the besel. I'll go out to the hop and take an old cluster apart and check for you...

Again, I wasn't trying to be a dick, I've been here helping people for a long time...
