OBD1 and I don't have a scanner.
I'd get one, it can be helpful.

I removed my CEL bulb a long time ago .
Everything is pointing at the #6 cylinder at this point. Pulled the plugs and it looks like either the injector or coil is not firing. I am going to IR the headers in the morning and verify that hypothesis. I can move the coil pack and confirm which one is bad if that's the case.
More news tomorrow.
Did a IR test on the headers and #6 was significantly colder than the rest. Moved the coils around and the issue remained. Pulled the injector rail and found #6 injector was not seated in the electrical harness fully. Got it to seat all the way and heard the click in the connectors this time.
Started the car to re-do IR and all of a sudden it has a nasty valve tick. This fucking car hates me.
No. It's definitely mechanical.
At this point it's either a bent valve (less likely) or a broken valve spring (more likely).
The issue on the dyno was most likely the bad injector. The tap wasn't existent while on the dyno. That happened immediately upon giving the cylinder fuel.
So, the good news is I figured out why the numbers were so low on the dyno and will be ready to hit again once this valve train is fixed.
I am suspecting the latter. The compression numbers says its not horrible. That's why thinking maybe just a valve spring.
Slightly bent valve. Have no idea how it happened at this point. The head is off and at the machine shop. New valves, Supertech dual valve springs, new retainers, and lifters. Hoping to have it all back together in the next two weeks to make a NASA event on May 20/21.
She is getting a slight port and polish on the head to try and take full advantage of the ITBs.
Parts shipped yesterday (FINALLY). Scheduled to arrive Thursday. Should have her back together by Monday.
Package arrived today and is still missing the damn valves. NEVER use THMotorsports for your parts!!
Valves finally arrived yesterday (ordered all the parts on May 8th). Machinist/mechanic has everything they need to complete the job. Hope to have it back early next week.
The valves sent were the wrong ones (again, and double this time, F U THMotorsports). BUT, the machinist had a set of forged stainless valves for my motor and is throwing those on. The head will be ready by the end of the day and, hopefully, the car will be back together by first of next week.
Continue to have issues with THMotorsports.com. Ordered parts for my car a month ago and communicated my need for quick shipping to make a points event with NASA. A month later and after missing the points event, we finally received all the parts. The valves were incorrect (too long). I contacted them for a return/refund and they refused it because (1) it's an internal engine part and (2) they said I ordered the wrong part. The part was never used as it couldn't be used and I ordered the part from their website search that clearly states "Good News! This Part Fits Your 1999 BMW M3 BASE 6Cyl 3.2L". They are stating the part is for Euro Version only and I ordered the wrong part. Just a warning about THMotorsports.com - they don't really care about customer service.
Got the head all back together and on the car. Did a leak down and epic failure. The short block was catching on something. Pulled the head again and did some quick measurements and found #6 piston has 3/16" less throw than the rest. Thinking bent rod now . Motor is coming out today.
On the good news side, I am scheduled for install of MS3 Pro and dyno tuning at DIYAUTOTUNE at the end of the month. Going to grab a track day at Atlanta Motorsports Park while I am there.
Damn man you just can't seem to catch a break. You have spare rods to throw in?
I don't have any spare rods laying around. Waiting to do a full diagnosis to see everything I might need.
