New batch of Powder Coated V8 valve covers fresh out of the oven!

A forum member asked me to powder coat a pair of valve covers, so I snagged a few more sets at the junkyard and had them refinished.

I have one pair available for the M60 V8, and two available for the M62. I am also selling my lime green M62 valve covers if anyone is interested. Note: these covers have threaded holes for the positive battery terminal on the driver's side on the 5 and 7 series. They aren't very visible once installed (but in the pictures they catch the flash).

Price is $300 shipped in the USA. $50 of that is a core charge, refunded upon receipt of your old valve covers.

Yep. I used to live about 2 miles from Dinan in the late 90's and my car was their beta 540iA for that kit.

Here are some old pictures I found on my way defunct website

Very cool! So did you transfer this set up to an 840?

Nope. The car was a beast for many years (except it ran like crap until it warmed up every time), however after around 100K miles it started having electrical issues, probably on account of Dinan hacking the wiring harness so many times to install / uninstall various things they were testing out (ignition boosters for example). The car started sputtering at high RPM, going into a strange "grumbling" mode where the engine had no power while making a weird sound. I tried everything I could think of myself, then took it to two shops in San Diego and then stupidly throwing $7K at Evosport in Huntington Beach to try and figure it out. The DME, coils, plugs, MAF, injectors, fuel pump, 02 sensors, cats, and just about every other sensor (related or not to the problem) was replaced, yet the problems persisted. It swear it was the cursed SC kit & I didn't want to curse the 840ci, so I sold the SC kit and parted out the 540i in the last year. I probably could have solved the issues with a brand new wiring harness, but by the time I realized that it was too late and I was over it.

If you still have the M62 valve covers for the 840CI I will take them!

How will the powder coating hold up to the engine heat?

Yep, I have M62 valve covers available for the 840ci. Just note that they have two very small holes for the + battery terminal as they are from a 1998 540i. Not very noticeable when installed but need to mention since the E31 terminal is near the ECU box.

The powdercoat is very durable and far exceeds the crappy factory epoxy based paint.

Will PM details for payment, etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply. After looking at my current covers I see those same two holes so all is good, thanks for explaining though.

    Payment sent!
