    problems reading ecu

    Hi can anyone help me,
I have a 2004 e46 (320d) . I’m trying to read the dcu using bmwflash but I’m having problems. I’m using a k+dcan cable (no switch but I’ve even tried shorting pin 7+8). The red light doesn’t turn on from just the obd port. When plugged into the laptop the led light turns off after a short while or whenever I try communicate with the car. I have the car battery charged and still charging while I try using the cable. I’ve installed the drivers from the bmwflash “help”-“install drivers menu”. Any help would be appreciated.
