My 1998 750il & 2001 740I build thread

Hey guys I have already posted in the show of your rides sticky and now I want to keep you guys updated on the builds of these two cars that I recently got. Im slowly working on getting them back to being perfect even tho both are already in amazing condition. The 1998 750il was picked up from Oregon from the original owner with 112K miles. Came with full set of AC schnitzer wheels in chrome which will be selling soon. I will be taking some professional pictures of the cars soon and figure out how to post pictures easier.. Sorry for the really big pictures..

Aftermath of the road trip from Oregon to Home in Washington. Car got really dirty but performed really well and drove like a dream. Front wheel was losing air and had to install the spare.








A little detailing was done and I was able to find a set of the original wheels on craigslist for $150 but needed tires badly. I went directly to Goodyear and had them put on new Touring tires which are specially made for a quiet and comfortable ride.



The guy that sold me the wheels lost the center caps so I called the dealer and they located them in California and I bought a few of them to complete the wheels.



Next I installed a e39 shifters on both my 740i and 750il












Some pictures of the new tires installed with the added center caps. I also have 10mm spacers on the rear for a better 'stance' look. This is the first time I put the car on the lift to have a look underneath and I was a bit nervous.






I removed the plastics from underneath and I was amazed with what im looking at.. Not ONE drop of fluid... Nothing, completely dry!! But did find some minor suspension work needing attention.








And finally some pictures of the 2001 740i sport with 90k miles that I saved. It was involved in a front end collision, sourcing parts was not a hard thing to do so I got to work Saturday morning and finished the car that night on the same day. Parts that I replaced were: The hood, driver fender, bumper, radiator support, radiator, both headlights and a power steering hose that got kinked. quickly recharged the AC system & cooling system, new power steering fluid and oil change. Car is getting a lot more done to it. Will be addressing the brakes and minor suspension work. I replaced the Navigation module from the trunk because that went bad on me ...

Congrats on the two cars! You really scored with that 750il, it looks fantastic, especially with how clean the engine compartment is. Superb job on the 740i body work, looks like it's a real M-Sport, those are quite desirable should you choose to ever sell it. I'm amazed you got all of the new parts to line up so nicely, you must have a good bit of experience doing body work.

Spent part of this sunny day doing some minor paint correction and getting some scratches out wet sanding with 2000 grit sand paper. Im happy with the results even tho I did all this with a fever haha and in a bit of a hurry. Black is my favorite color to deal with. I have to upgrade to a dual axis buffer soon.
