Using PA Soft on Win10 X64

Ive tried installing and using the PA soft on win 10 going by the win 7 x64 instructions that were put up a while ago that i found, but to now avail.

Has anyone done this on a windows 10 machine before? Im stuck on getting the drivers for the cable/dongle to install so everything works.

    Please help :/

I have PA Soft 1.4 running on Windows 8.1 x64, so it will work with Win10. Yes the install was a little troublesome, but it will work.

You have to disable driver signing, which on Win8 and 10 is slightly more complicated.

I had to do this on my Surface Pro tablet, but I had huge additional headaches because in that procedure it didn't load USB or touchscreen so I couldn't push 'F7' key. There is a difficult workaround that as well, to trick the tablet to load USB for keyboard.

Hrmmmm....doing this on a full fledge laptop. I'll try deactivating that and see if i get any results. I changed the usb root hub driver just fine....i just can't get it to use the same driver for the dongle.

It only gets deactivated for one start-up session, so do the driver installation and everything; but unsigned driver remains installed after restart. You won't have any keyboard issues, so you will be ok.

Ej, i did these steps first. After the point of installing the driver for usb where it starts talking about installing the driver for the dongle, i followed the advice posted here about shutting off the driver signing bs.

here is what I did to get it to work on my car and computer....

So the first thing is to download this driver:
    http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/..._Certified.zip

then extract it, I like using 7zip never have a problem with it.

Next you have to go to device manager:
    1. Click start button, right click on computer and hit manage. (Sorry if you already know how to do this, just going step by step in case you dont)

    2. Click on Device manager and scroll to Universal Serial Bus controller.

This is the weird part, I did it on two computes, for one of the computers this next step caused on of my usb ports to stop working, so its a gamble, however on my other computer nothing weird happened.

    3. Next chose one of the USB Root Hubs and right click and then Update driver.

    4. Then browse my computer for driver software

    5. Choose let me pick from a list of device drivers

    6. Then chose "Have Disk"

    7. Browse to where you extracted the above file and select ftdibus and hit ok.

    8. From the list I choose usb serial convert A and click install

    9. Just click ok through all the prompts win7 throws your way.

    10. Turn off your internet, then plug BMW scanner into car and then into computer. Win7 will say it cant install device

    11. Go back to device manger and find BMWscanner that should have a yellow ! next to it. Right click, update driver and install the same driver you did for the first usb hub. It might error out. Open up BMWScanner software and it should know show up that drivers installed and connected to car!

If you need any help just let me know, hope it works for you too!

    Hi,
How can you help on the same installation? My INPA is just too complex in interface and I dont really get to understand the readings. I have a 1.4 PA but on windows 8, it just eludes me on installation.

Uh... how did you resolve the keyboard issue? Installed the drivers and got a BSOD and my surface book rebooted and had no keyboard or mouse control. I do have touch screen. How would I go about regaining g functionality of my kB and mouse?

i ended up just updating the drivers automatically and it worked. I got the program working. Not sure how it all works out haha
