Radio sound system cuts out....

My 1995 740il radio sound system works perfectly when I first turn it on. It will work for about 5 minutes before shutting off. After a cooling off period, the sound system will work for another short time frame.
Any advice on the problem?

Seems to me that your amplifier is bad specially if your head unit is on but no audio is heard.

Most times, this is a malfunctioning NAV unit. Good excuse to trade up to a MKlV!

op has a 95 e38. nav not pressent til 97

op. do the light go off when your radio stop working? (tape deck part)
