Hehe I'd love for that to be possible, but this is probably going to take another year or two before we're done.

So here's a quick lil' something, we got started on the mounting points for some of the chassis components.

We also attended a GT Board event at Malmby airfield, where a couple of cool cars showed up.

    Ferrari 458

    Huracan

    Aventador 750 SV Spyder

Modded Volvo amazon with a R32 driveline and a turbocharged BMW M60B40, a little unsure about the power but I believe it's at about 600 HP or so.

    And a E30 M3 with a S85B50 engine swap.

Fun fact, the E30 pretty much slaughtered the Huracans, which on paper shouldn't happen if you ask me, but reality dosen't lie.

We also decided on a gearbox, and settled for a Porsche 997 GT3 gearbox.

And here are the speeds at certain given RPMs on each gear.

    Hastighet = Speed
    Utväxling = Ratio
    Varv/min = RPM

A top speed at about 335 km/H is probably going to be fast enough

Next up for us is probably to get ahold of some Corvette parts for the chassis.

    Another quick little update.

Mounting points for the suspension and swingarms for the pushrods.

    Some more boxing.

This is how the stock exhaust manifolds look like on the S85, we're going to have to build our own later on for better flow.

The center of the driveshafts will end up at the marking, sitting at about 27cm above the underside of the chassis.

    That's all for now

The idea isn't really all that off the charts, it's wether you can make it happen or not that counts

We made some bushings for the suspension swingarms.

And we finished welding the frame for the rear suspension.

So we've been trying to get ahold of some Corvette C5 subframe parts, and eventually we found a complete front and rear subframe for a decent price so we snatched em both and used the parts.

    Rear subframe.

Measurement of rideheight which results in a 8.5cm groundclearence assuming 335/30 tires on 18" wheels, which admittedly is a little low if you want to use the car on the road, so we'll have to find a solution to that later on.

Front subframe, just laying there waiting to make itself useful.

However, we are thinking about using the entire front subframe rather than just stripping the components that we need and adding those to our own lower mounting points.

If we did, it would look something along these lines.

That's all for now, until next time

    Cool

Allright so I apologize in advance if posting a bunch of vacation pics ain't interesting nor related to the build itself but I figured I'd give it a shot anyways. Some of you might like it I guess, and it may give the thread abit of a personal touch

So...vacation...we all need it, and some of us are lucky enough to get it. And if we are lucky some of us might get to travel!

Not me though, my vacation had to be changed due to work so it didn't line up to with the road trip we were planning.

My brother and co-builder Erik got to go though, so here are some pics from his adventures this summer.

    BMW Museum in Munich, Germany

    Salt mines in Berchtesgaden, Germany

    Some spooky ass lamp.

The first ever pump used in the mine, apparently ran for 200 years.

    Eagle's Nest, Germany

Former vacation residence of Hitler, these days a café with a beautiful view, though somewhat obfuscated by the fog.

    Rossfeld Hochalpstrasse, Austria

    Headed towards Grossglockner.

    Villach, Austria

Kirschenfest 2016 was apparently being held here at the time

    Skocjan Caves, Slovenia

    Interesting construct.

    Tuscany, Italy

    San Remo, Italy

    Provence Gorge du Verdon, France

    Strasbourg, France

One bigass Cathedral coming right up.

    Bernkastel-Keus and Mölln, Germany

And that's all we got from the vacation, hope it didn't bore you

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    On to the build!

So last time, we figured we'd give the Corvette front subframe a shot, so we strapped it into position, which would leave us at a 8,5cm ground clearance assuming 335/30 tires on 18" rims.

However, this puts us at a maximum of 1.5 degrees of camber at rideheight, so that needs to be fixed.

Originally we were unsure of what brakediscs to use, we figured that we'd just stick with the Corvette stuff perhaps, however, we were lucky and managed to get ahold of some BMW M2 discs that's only been slightly used.
    M2 Front disc 380mm VS Corvette 325mm
    M2 Rear disc 370mm VS Corvette 305mm

We also had some pieces made for the mounting points of the front subframe.

Drivers side rear mounting points for the front subframe being considered, will be clad with sheetmetal later on obviously.

Front mounting points for the front subframe. The idea is to be able to simply lower the entire subframe in case we need to work on it. Ease of maintanence basically.

Considering positioning the upper arm mounting points about 1cm. That would leave us at about 9cm of ground clearance.

Passanger side rear mounting points for the front subframe, same as drivers side.

Front crossbeam and swingarms for the suspension in place.

We also got ourselves one of these useful little weight-scales for the enginelift, so now we can start weighing and estimating the weight

Entire chassis as it stands right now, with the front subframe and stuff in place. Not in this weighing which needs to be included at a later time: brake calipers, swaybars, steering column, sheet metal cladding.
    299KG

S85B50 - clutch not in this weighing.
    250KG

    Porsche 997 GT3 gearbox
    80KG

    Total weight so far: 629KG

We also recieved a transmission from a E60 M5. Well, we can't use that gearbox itself, and they aren't sought after so they are a hard sell. Well...we do kind of need the sweep from the gearbox to be able to mount it to the engine later on...so...bring on the powersaw.

We're going to try to keep and use this part of the doublemass flywheel.

    That's all for now folk's

Hope it was worth the read, and as always, comments and questions are appriciated

Awesome road trip! You guys are fortunate to have so much right in your backyard just a roadtrip away--reminds me of my trip to the Welt and time spent in the Rhine valley.

The build is continuing phenomenally, can't wait to see how it progresses.

I'm glad you guys like it

Progress is probably going to keep being pretty slow paced as we are trying to get started on building a house before winter hits us and it gets too cold to do so.

But we'll be able to squeeze in some trickle of progress on the car aswell, most likely.
