The time has come to add more WHP's to my vehicle. I've always been an N/A build type of guy, and if any of you frequent the Kills Section you would see my last setup worked quite well for an N/A S52 while on my trips to "Mexico". That is, till my cylinder 1 rod decided to make me a custom window in my oil pan. Not really surprised or upset, she lasted 213k miles of constant abuse between tracking, racing, and daily driving. I was going to build another N/A motor but I got a great deal on a boost setup I couldn't pass up, not to mention much of my competition is stepping up their game so it's time I do the same. I can always use what's left of the current motor to build another N/A setup later on if I like.
I'm pretty competent in understanding many automotive aspects, but I'm new to the boost game. I've been pretty diligent in perusing this section and badgering my friends before asking questions, but some things I'd like more information on. Is there a good place to gain more information on turbos/ turbo setups themselves? I see a lot of posts on A/R housings, turbine and compressor wheels and ratios, spool RPM and such and would like a more in depth understanding myself of them. Any information to help further my knowledge would be appreciated. Big thanks to Frank, Scott and Anthony for fielding my questions and helping me already!
I've also started to compile a parts list if I were to piece a turbo setup together instead of buying a kit, I was interested in purchasing a friend's setup but not sure if he'll be interested in parting with it. Any help adding to it or correcting it would be great!

Turbo is pretty vague. What are your goals for this? power? type of driving? What price range of turbo are you looking for? etc. Gauges is pretty easy. wideband and boost as a bare minimum. I always like getting oil pressure/temp gauges as well on boosted cars...but not necessarily required. Pipping size... 3" turbo to throttlebody is pretty standard on here and will flow enough for anything you can throw at (anything larger will just cause extra lag). 3.5" downpipe/exhaust.

For street car, get a
Turbo 35r, gtx35r, 6262 or 6266.
Tuning : NickG
Fuel pump : aeromotive 340 or Walbro 400
Wideband : get the Zeitronix zt2 kit. This will also data log as well.
Boost control : Eboost2 .

The car will basically be street driven, 1/4th and half mile racing, and occasionally a track day or two if I feel like trying my hand at at. Immediate power goals are whatever my current clutch can hold reliably, and step up from there. I currently have a SPEC stage 3+ clutch and JBR flywheel, I've been told they can hold up to somewhere around 500wtq reliably so that's what I'm shooting for. Eventually I will step it up to big power, would just like to get the car running and setup on boost before further drivetrain upgrades.
Are there recommended gauges as per brand/model for the those that you recommended? I currently have a full 3" mandrel bent, stainless steel exhaust I was hoping to keep being that it was expensive, would a 3.5in downpipe to a 3in exhaust suffice?
Care to elaborate?
GTX35R, PT 6266 or 6466 were on my short lists for turbos, something I can run now and turn the wick up on later on. I was impressed by how Anthony's 6466 spooled at 3500 and kept going with what seemed to be no issues. Any specific reason for Nick G over RK? I've spoken to Jordan and personally know a few cars that have been tuned by him with great results, meanwhile none of my inquiries to Nick G have been answered at all thus why I chose Jordan.

What are the power goals?
I havent even gotten the engine back in my FI build, but it seems like the bf.c method is this;
Declare power goal... pick a turbo that will support that 200%
Why not pick a turbo that will easily meet your initial goals but with some head room for the inevitable; wanting more power.
Doesnt make sense to me to pick a 8-900whp turbo when your goals are 4-500whp.

nice! Eboost2 and the Zeitronix ZT2 are expensive but stuff is awesome. boost dependent on gear/rpm is worth its weight in gold (especially on a 2wd). I executed it with Ecuflash and boost solenoid on evos, it was awesome. I wouldn't recommend the "case" type display on the zeitronix though. I ran something similar for a while on the PLX. Car so damn fast I couldn't see sh*t on that display. lol.

Twas a poke at the pot, no need to actually stir it, but while on the subject I'd like to see a 4094r on ms109 by nick that runs with any of the ms109 4094r cars tuned at ics.
John from CES runs those times with a smaller turbo tuned by NickG, Mike R also runs those times and better, again tuned by Nick. If Nicks tunes are good enough for Mike R and for John from CES's personal cars, and kits they sell on the market , that's enough right there.
Its much more than "max power", its about protecting your investment, having a car that runs flawless, its about having the protection of knock tables when things go wrong. Much more than just a dyno sheet.

My vote goes for a pump gas 4094r car (640whp all day at 18-19psi) and have a little more agressive tune for ms109 for 25-26psi (780-820whp) remember, you have a lot of bikes and cars that have lots of power in the triple digits in your area, not 137-142mph traps you need 150-155mph on kill to show out.
