Dburt's Rusty Nitrous LS M3 Build, now twin turbo

Page 3 starts the turbo activities

    Hello BF,

Wasnt sure if i was going to make a build thread for this, but i might as well seeming as this is the forum i frequent the most.

Story starts last summer when a friend founf this M3 sedan shell sitting in someones garage. The car previously had a Euro s50 and was pulled out and the sell was just sitting around.

The car had rust and a ton of miles (208,000). i got the car with H&R coil overs, drilled rotors and some kind of nice pads, 4 clutch diff, ect for 1000$

Heres the rust i found. Seller was pretty up front about it, and it was clear why he pulled the euro motor out

So the car sat around, i didnt really have a plan for it, buy after i sold my turbo e30, i knew i wanted to do a LS. What better canidate than a rusty M3?
So i bought some CX racing mounts, headers and exhuast (Fab work done, boooooomm lol), ordered up a MS3 Gold box and harness, and i was off to the races

    The setup consists of-
    LQ4 from 2002 2500hd
    New rings, oil pump, bearings
    228/228 cam
    cut heads
    LS6 intake manifold
    F body pan and accessories
    MLS and headstuds

So long stroy short, the freshly rebuilt motor goes in, and soon after comes out lol

I honestly have no idea what happened. The car ran like from crap from the start. By the time i figured to check oil pressure it was already too late. This happened with in maybe the first hour of running.

So this is all happening the week before H20I, where i already paid for a expensive town house on the strip. So it was a scramble. I dove from CT to Long Island and bought ANOTHER lq4. This one had 4 of 8 wrist pins were SEIZED. Ive never even heard of that happening. It was clear that this was a warranty pull out. Engine was SUPER clean, but needed work.

So, i take the pistons from the first 6.0 and toss them in the new 6.0.

    - - - Updated - - -

So for the next motor i made this pressure oiler to prime the system before it went into the car

Here it is very shortly after i put the 2nd motor in

    here its getting cleaned up

1st nitrous kit. Twin nozzle, 10lb bottle

Second kit. Nitrous outlet plate kit, 15lb bottle, Nano system, 250shot, remote bottle opener.

Love the setup man, one thing I would try to do would be throw a shorter rad in the car and use the grilles to make an intake like the fd ls swaps.

So which one is faster, the e30 or the LQ swap? One of my good friends has a similar setup, went through several rear ends before doing the subframe and 210mm diff conversion. What transmission are you using?

Yea I'm hoping so. It shouldn't take me long to get this new car sorted out. Once the bumpers are sprayed, then everything else is basically a bolt in deal.

last year was sick. The I'll have my car and that talon will be back. It's got about another 100whp then last year so that gtr might have a problem!!

Its hard to say. The LS car comes out hard with the nitrous and slicks. It's a different animal entirely. The e30 was fast every time you hit it. It was light and sketchy. Sometimes it would and other times you could be sideways on the highway.

I I took a friend for a ride in both and he thinks the m3 on nitrous is faster. It hits hard.

The gtr just got back from some more upgrades. It's a different animal now. But I'll try and get a couple more cars out next year. Will be nice to see yours. Hopefully mine will be done by then as well.

Is this the same car that was in the classifieds, 8x,xxx miles or something like that? Make sure you weld in some reinforcement plates to the chasis where the subframe bolts to the body. The m3's have those from the factory but I doubt non-m had them. The last thing you need is a torn boot floor from the slicks/n2o/v8 combo

O yea, that's on the list, along with some other things. Id like to figure out a way to add another from mount to the diff. I kind of wish it mounted like the e30 does, rigid to the subframe.

I'm not sure yet, it'll prolly end up getting scrapped.

Heres a quick 2-3 pull on the Hoosiers on the spray. Looks like it's running a tad rich.
