I didn’t spend 5 min in the garage today. I went out and bought a new Sony TV, my 7 year old Samsung wouldn’t get the YouTubeTV app.
Welp, made a big decision on the lq4 build. Got rid of the swirl ramps in the heads, definitely gonna be a high rpm engine but with the cam/valvetrain combo it should hold fine. Hoping to see 8k out of it.

Yep.. but had to do it. Changed the oil on the e38 today, as well as the cabin filters and swapped over more hood parts. Then took it on a 160mi journey. Longest I’ve driven it. Did it flawlessly.
Still need glass. Not having a garage suuucckkks.

Heck yeah it is, honestly it's got like an 83% bowl done to the heads. Shouldn't be catastrophic down low, second LS build is keeping the swirl ramps and is going in a truck, well its an lq4 but what's the difference. Anyways, I basically got an lq4 for free and have nothing to stick it in. Should I toy with slapping it in the 540 or throw it in my e46? The e46 is a turd with 300k on the clock but I'm curious as to how long the stock motor will last.
Somehow I also came across 3 sets of cylinder heads. But they are all lq4 317 low compression castings.

Sandpaper and a really nice metal polish. Got one of the chambers done today. Not the best job in the world but I'm going to be on the edge of the avaliable octane with 87 so I want to give it the best chance it has.

About 10:1 with a mild cam, doable but difficult. Cam won't drop the dynamic cr low enough to be perfectly fine. Might put in a flex fuel sensor, the stock ecu can run it.

Impulsively bought a 2001 750iL Sport that came up for sale in ABQ yesterday. Caught the listing about an hour after it was posted.
Needs a LOT of work, however the engine and trans appear to run flawlessly. Like can barely tell is running at idle.
Has hail damage. Mileage is unknown because the pixels are wasted, but it was titled with 80,300mi in august 2019 so hopefully lowish mileage still. But it was cheap and I couldn’t say no.
Car has the double glazed windows, fancy wood trim inlay, heated and massaging front seats, heated and electric rear seats, heated wheel, S-EDC, etc etc etc. Super cool spec car.
My totaled (but still daily driven) 740i is going to give some parts to this car.
Also the M73TU is an absolute honey, leagues better than the M70 (which I still love, having daily one for many years)

Decked my first cylinder head in the school Haas machine, it was pretty warped. Ported it as well by hand. Should be good enough to blow the 5 speed into oblivion.
