Picked up this ~40k mile ‘02 LS1 for $500 with intake, fuel rails, wiring harness, oil pan, bolts, accessories.

Couldn’t say no. It’s so clean. Have nothing to put it in just had to have it.

    I’m
Now seeing that the LS1 MIGHT NOT be in that list... I guess you got a good deal tho depending on miles condition etc... is it pulled from a truck or vette or?

Wrecked 02 trans am. Slammin deal dude.

The LS1 qualifies for the above noted info. The 6 bolt. Mains are part of what make them so stout.

However this is one you could throw tons of boost at, being aluminum. You want the iron block for boost.

This aluminum block though weighs 70lbs. And will still make 5-600hp happily.

    I agree!!

I meant to say you CANT (shouldn’t) throw tons of boost at the aluminum block.

I’m going to put it in my truck in place of the Vortec 350.

Yep, nice cruiser you built there, Leo. Tires broke free without any hesitation. That car would help get me into trouble.

Now this is nowhere near as cool as the last 5+ pages of this thread, but here goes. My son bought a rusty 99 Silverado 4x4 that needs more than a little work. I'm a sucker for father son projects so we're going to put my new welder to the test. The spare tire was still holding air.

It's scary to think that people are out there driving with frames like this.

That last pic is perfect capture of my son realizing that he's not going to be driving the truck to work on Tuesday.

Holy crap! That frame is wasted! You should pull the front end, and the cab off the whole frame so that you can see what I’m about to tell you. Find another frame. That thing looks like it was long term parked next to the Titanic.
The proper way to save that frame would be to acid dip it and see how much metal is left on that thing, then beef it up with new stock, but that will keep you guys busy until next year if you worked on it everyday until done. If the frame spares aren’t as wasted as those crossmembers are, get them cleaned, order up a couple of gallons of POR15. But in your first picture, I can see that the frame is already collapsed. Just get another frame.

    Yeah, it's bad. I ain't skeerd though!

Snotty, you are correct, it has rusted through/cracked under the cab near the torsion bar mounts, which is why the bed was leaning. The plan is to sandblast that whole area and see if we can get some reinforcement plates welded up. Moving onto the back, he's already got a replacement crossmember, it's the one with the broken shock mount in the pic. After seeing the state of the other crossmembers, he's decided to buy those as well.

POR15 is indeed on the shopping list. We'll keep an eye out for a replacement frame.

Alittle bit ON TOPIC, but too good not to show you guys as I feel the folks on this thread have their cars pretty much sorted well enough to fool around with other stuff or they wouldn’t be going OT to begin with (sound reasoning?) plus who doesn’t love a nice turbo setup especially when it’s attached to an S62 on an E39 chassis... don’t have any more info than this pic maybe some of you know who and what’s going on here... but twin turbo E39M? Yes please!

After a tremendous amount of work on the 2005 330i, it was time to take her on my adventure of Chico state for Sustainable Manufacturing. Not a great fit for these roads, but it sure does look amazing. Was given a $1500 quote for OFHG and Valve cover while it was in for airbag recall.

I wish it was. Just a base 330i, but not much left as a give away which are side skirts and rear bumper. Running Koni fsd + eibach pro-kit, ecs sway bar kit, zhp control arms, poly fcab, poly rtab, 18x9 arc8s, stud conversion, cross-drilled/slotted rotors + ebc redstuff brake pads, stainless steel lines. Then swapped in brand new leather sport seats and an E39 M5 steering wheel that looks amazing.

That frame is toast. Don’t even bother trying to fix it, there will be nothing left after blasting or dipping.
