That would be amazing. You might need to do some diff swapping and reinforcement with that amount of power and torque.

Make sure you get the ECU and the wiring, you'll need it.
Driveshafts can be fabricated to make anything connect to anything.
An M5 diff should be able to handle that power.

Yep, getting the whole car, hoping I can use the brakes too. Don’t know what kind of diff the ZL1 comes with yet, sure it’s an LSD, sure I can sell off a bunch of parts, I have to strip it down quick and get rid of the hulk, part out the stuff I don’t need, then bring in the other wagon that I’m getting. Figured on an M5 diff, I guess I’ll need the half shafts too. Man, the ZL1 has that magnetic ride shock absorber system.....

There’s a YouTube video of an Aussie that shoved an LT4 into an M3, just some footage of the shop and some burnouts, I’m gonna need a trainload of rear tires....

    Cool video.
I'm not sure on that diff BUT the new GM LSD diff have hydraulic controlled clutches to vector power to which side need it more. Was reading some reviews last week, sounded sweet.

Most heavy duty vans over here are ladder on frame too, I believe Mercedes has an option of getting just a cab on a frame and then you can get custom everything from there on out, I think you can even choose frame length. I know mini trucks are subject to the chicken tax, but do heavy duty vans also fall into that category? Maybe it just falls into the Australian ute logic of things "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays", mixing utility and personal transport.

The Mercedes Sprinter Chassis looks like a unibody chassis, not a fully boxed ladder frame. I could be wrong, though.

Either way, 'Muricans just love their pickup trucks. I don't get it.

Crap, just hydroplaned and slammed my wagon into the wall out on the beltway. Waiting for the tow truck, I’m sure it’s totaled, side airbags worked like a charm.

Oh yeah, rear rim broke in half, so did the brake rotor, didn’t see the caliper, it wasn’t there. When I hit that ridiculous amount of standing water, I had about a second to react, I was behind a Mustang, who spun a complete 360, he got lucky and kept going, while he was facing me, I hit the standing water that he spun on, the car just spun to the left, I countered and the car snapped hard to the right, I’m thinking while I was counter steering to the right, the car regained grip and I didn’t react fast enough, guess I’ve lost my edge, and the car did a 180, I had already told myself I F’d up and I was gonna slam it hard into the wall, drivers rear nailed it hard, real hard, the side curtain and the drivers door airbag deployed, the curtain actually did it’s job and prevented my head from hitting the B pillar and the glass, and I guess the door bag kept me from sliding further over, but I have a welt on my elbow from the airbag leather blowing against it or something. Slight stiff neck, that’s about it. But the wagon is toast. Weirdest bit, the front rim..... front end didn’t hit anything, the drivers door won’t close, the rear door got shoved forwards, front door stayed latched, I was able to open it, but now the rear door is preventing it from latching shut, front fender is fine, but the rim..... the front rims lip peeled off in two places, it’s real strange, it never hit the wall. My rear tailgate glass blew up, funny thing, before the accident, I had glanced at the rear view mirror, and noticed that one of the center defroster lines wasn’t working, made a mental note to inspect it and get the repair kit for it, we’ll, now I don’t have to worry about it. The whole rear end is kicked over, there is a buckle on the right quarter. The subwoofer box that belongs in the right rear corner above the battery got spat out of the compartment, the hinge for it completely broke off the mount. Yep, I hit that wall really hard Nascar style. I had the tow truck dump the car at my shop. Car won’t run, airbags went off, the stupid positive terminal blast cap surely went off. The out of round Style 66, hit a pothole a few weeks ago, on the right rear survived the crash, lol. I took some pictures, but it was dark and rainy, I’ll get more tomorrow.

I’m fine, just a slightly stiff neck, probably be a little stiffer tomorrow, and a welt on my left elbow from the leather on the door when the airbag went off. Thanks for asking, I did go and get checked out at the hospital, I’m fine, just upset about the car. I’ve had it for a long time. 212,806 miles on the odometer, had 41,000 when I got it.
Funny, it’s the third Touring to get totaled since last Thursday or so, Funny thing, I am buying Jax’s green wagon when he gets the rebuilt/salvage title for his car from the Maryland dmv, should be a week or two, someone else had chimed in on Jax’s thread about his wagon also getting wrecked/totaled, mine was the third. Too bad, would have been cool to have both Oxford Green 2 wagons side by side.

Ouch, that's a big hit. Sounds like there wasn't much you could've done. Anything you want to save/salvage off this one?

Definitely good to get checked out, and probably not a bad idea to pay a visit to a chiropractor or someone like that.

Someone else's Alpine white touring caught fire recently, too, on Bimmerfest IIRC. Not a good month for E39 tourings in our community.

Crap man! Freaky wagon vibes! Maybe I should not drive mine until September is over!?!?!

Glad you're OK - dropped you email last night when I saw the first post but was too busy to get in here and see the pix.

Here's a theory on the front wheel... could it have suddenly hit 'dry' (or at least dry-enough) pavement when going sideways at high speed and 'burped' the bead off, causing sudden loss of inflation and for it to hit the ground?
You can see its scraped up on the rim edge, maybe that's from when that occurred although that could have been during the tow-truck operations I imagine...

Wow, you did a good job on that body Snotty, good to hear your in better shape than the car.
Gotta say this as somebody usually does.....that should buff right out.

So how does this impact the LT4? Was it going in this car or a different one?

It may take days or weeks for injuries from a collision to affect you. If VA is like MD, injuries are a no-fault claim but you must see a doctor immediately after the accident. This allows you to use your coverage from your car insurance and, if that runs out, you can use your health insurance. If you don't see a doctor and you start hurting a week from now, your car insurance company can say you were injured after the accident and all you will have is your health insurance. Please call your insurance company and get the facts.

oooof Snotty that sucks big time. Glad your not hurt, but as Jax said, whiplash and its effects can creep up in the next few days or weeks. Be mindful of that.

Bad omen in the air with tours these days. F-in endless aweful rainy September on east coast is messing up the mojo everywhere. And very odd on that front wheel. Maybe tire peeled off as GG said, but that lip peel is strange for sure. The carma of setting the plans on getting the next green tour, then boom on your existing car.... wow.

Yeah man, I’m a graduate of the Ricky Rudd NASCAR Driving Skeeool, yesterday was graduation day, A+ on spinning into the wall....
What am I gonna save? Everything on the right side, the two style 66 wheels, I have two 9” 66’s for a staggered setup, saving the engine and the transmission, I know they have almost 213,000 miles on them, but man, the engine and trans ran like a well oiled top! I mean I was driving that car hard, constantly, always hitting at least 100 mph daily. And getting it up past 140 on days out in the country, the stupid thing was great. And that was usually with stuff in the rear!!! The whole cooling system is pretty much brand new, Mishimoto radiator, front suspension, whatever’s good in the rear end, it was all pretty much new, the interior, the 16 way comfort seats, sport steering wheel, all the odds and ends, I’m gonna gut the stupid thing, already made arrangements for my buddy that runs a junk yard to fetch what’s left when I’m done. I’m bummed that car died last night, it could have kept chugging ondoing what it did best, drive great! Don’t get me wrong, I love my 540, but I love the long roof more!

Yeah, definitely not a good month for the long roofs, forgot, there was that white one that burned up too. On the front rim, the concrete wall tapered outwards at the bottom where it sits on the ground. The front fender never hit anything, the rim skimmed that bottom section of the wall, as I was scrapping with the wall, front wheels maybe were still steered to the right? Which kept the fender from getting nailed, the edge of the lips scraped the wall, where the wall sections end and meet up, I think is where the lip caught and tore off. I’m betting that’s gotta be what peeled them open like that. The stupid tire was still holding air!!! Not as much as it was, but it’s still holding air!

Gotta say this as somebody usually does.....that should buff right out.

So how does this impact the LT4? Was it going in this car or a different one?
Haha! Yup, I don’t mess around! And no, unfortunately, it won’t buff out.
The LT4, it was gonna go into the old car, but I just found out this evening, the owner came out of nowhere and paid the impound fee on the wreck, took the ZL1 out, I lost the deal, my brother screwed up by not getting the paperwork rolling sooner, it’s gone. But!!!! I don’t know, maybe go to Navy Federal and get a loan and order one from Jegs, $15,000 plush $3500 for a Tremec 6 speed, and all the fixings...... ok, that’s not gonna happen just yet. Gotta pull some manuevers first.

Yeah man, I followed your advice, saw the doctor last night after I got the car towed back to my shop. I’m ok, just a little stiff and sore. Worked all day, was stupid busy as it is the end of the month, just played some real good music, joked with the guys all day while working, got my mind off the death of the wagon, what didn’t help was the fact that I work on nothing but Audi’s, Benz’s, Jags, Maserati’s, Porsche’s, and BMW’s, and it just so happened I had nothing but BMW’s this past week, so it was kinda hard to get my mind off the accident.
