Otherwise, if it isn't that serious, then just spray brake cleaner everywhere and wipe it off, park it outside, and hand the keys to the service advisor.
Haha, sounds like a fun one. Engine coming out?

No. Drop the subframe. Lower the transmission. Replace the seal. Then reinstall everything.

The big block as at the machine shop, they're assembling the bottom end. All the parts are in, cam, rotating assy, etc etc. Exciting stuff!
Going to be sweet when you finally get it all finished. Need some pics when it's back from the shop.

You trying to get back here by yourself or with the family?

Yeah. I have sourced some new teflon rings, and need to order a few more Viton O-rings , then all I need to do is learn how to do the Ebay thing, and see if anybody would be interested. Should probably do my own first, though......lol.... Proof of concept type thingy

If I just didn't sell my spare set I'd send them to you.
Good luck with the eBay thing, maybe you can post on the "non" panjo for sale site.

    Nice setup. What engine GG?

Not sure yet. Getting the itch for more property.. Will probably buy here but I would like to own something out there too.

Will be posting plenty of pics once back from the machine shop. One of the cylinders needed a sleeve and another has already had one : Oh well. Good 4 bolt BB's are hard to find. Rolling with it.

Plan for now is to build it and carb it with a flex plate and drive the thing as an automatic. Then will start putting the Fuel injection and transmission swap stuff together.

The new M5 isn't that exciting to look at in person. Saw one the other day and didn't even realize it was any different than a regular 5 till I was up close

And it still sounds terrible. BMW can't make a turbo exhaust that sounds good, it would seem.

It's sad that BMW cannot make even a decent sounding V8 with turbos. AMG wins in this contest no doubt.

BMW builds their engines differently. The two turbos are shared between the 8 cylinders by using a cross engine manifold. Where as the the Mercedes "63 AMG" engine uses a Hot Turbo setup where each bank has its own turbo. Not to mention it uses 2 same sized tubos unlike bmw's sequential setup

And that's why they sound like muffled 4 cylinder engine.

Aside from their exhaust system, I do like the car overall and I look forward to many reviews and comparisons.

Turbos are great mufflers.. A sequential setup would be pretty quiet even with a straight open pipe.

The S63 engine used in the new M5 has been rated at 591hp/550lb-ft vs the Mercedes E63 (Competitor for new m5) has 603hp/627lb-ft from a 4L V8.

Is lack of exhaust pressure after both turbos on a sequential setup the reason for little noise?

The BMW manifold is actually patented, IIRC, and more efficient.

    Wow that's not bad...
I once designed a manifold for someone where the turbo from the left bank fed the inlet on the right bank and so forth... It was kinda like 2 four cylinder manifolds stuck together side by side...
