Somebody should have told the deer not to cross the road at that particular spot, at that particular time, that particular night.

Oh yeah? The $100 '03 Cooper S that I got runs like an awesome SUMBIATCH!!! Not one single issue since I replaced the powersteering pump, the cooling fan for the pump, and the leaking expansion tank.

You mean for the power steering pump? You get it from the bottom, right in front of the firewall. Remember, it is an electric pump, they usually fail after the cooling fan failed. It was such a common failure, Mini had a recall on them.

I like Tedward (the guy who made that video). He owns a Carbon Black E39 M5 with under 100k miles, IIRC. Plus a nice E92 M3, and a black outlaw 911 (the 80s 911 with the old transmission, not the G50, I think). Very nice guy.

I'm servicing the liquid cooling core in my old PowerMac G5 (dual 2.5) today.

Check out the size of just the liquid coolers. BMW key for scale:
    IMG_3496.jpg

See the dust-like crystals between the silicon and the aluminum of the liquid cooler?
    IMG_4383.jpg

That's where the O-rings have failed. You can see the residue on the top of the power supply:

Haha, well, this one was $3k new. It is a June 04 dual-2.5GHz G5, worth about $50 on a good day. I’m looking for an Apple Cinema Display (30-inch; unfortunately the power supplies go bad and they get thrown out), and a better GPU. I’m also looking to plop a small SSD in just to boot from. Not sure how, yet, as it has 2 SATA 1 connections and a few open card slots.

The radiator and liquid coolant pump say “Delphi” on them, and it was made in the US! Today I had to cut away the old cooling lines (they were all seriously brittle), and I replaced them with 3/8ths fuel hose. It won’t be quite as pretty (mostly because the fuel hose will be slightly curved) but I hope this will bring it back to at least OE speed levels.

The ongoing TenFourFox project and my plethora of hard drives and old games will make this old girl a fun retro computer for me to use occasionally. I’d like to set it up as a sort of remote back up/ home server and retro gaming system, as I can run really old Mac OS 9 software & games through “Classic” mode in 10.4.11, and play games in 10.5.8.

This is is also my only remaining computer with an optical drive. I think I last used it to burn a CD for updating the Nav in “Otto” with the ///M splash screen and the latest MK3 software.

Had a 2000 BMW 540i and the engine went due to a neglected chain guide. I'm worried that I would be throwing money into a pit by buying a new engine. Might have a hook up on a 2004 Volvo V70R. Should I sell the BMW for the Volvo, or stick with it?

Shame on you for not throwing money at it before the chain guides molested the engine, have fun with the Volvo.
