Yeah, I remember seeing M539 doing that starter and was really feeling bad for the E60 M5 guys.

Got all 4 of the QA1 coilovers and new springs installed. I’ll start off with the compression/rebound set at 1 and work my way up, 18 is the max stiff setting. 9” long 300 Lb springs in the front, replaces the 8” 400 Lb springs.
12” long 275 Lb springs in the rear, replaces the 8” 300 Lb springs.
I’ll take it out for a test drive tomorrow morning when it’s cool to see how much it will settle.
Pretty sure I got the tranny software figured out, the torque converter is now locking up like it should.
Next on the list is to install the Borla mufflers.

Indeed, I saw that as well. I'm thinking I'll buy a cheap "casco" starter and do the "guts swap", put things just together enough to start the engine, and see how it sounds. If the part seems poor, well... Genuine BMW $1k starter + $500 core charge it is, I suppose.Originally Posted by philly98540

Told her to give them to our sons and son-in-law.
The new QA1 coilovers and springs are in the hotrod, it rides a lot better now.
Next on the list it to install the Borla mufflers, that will have to wait until Aug when we get back from vacation.

Well I'm visiting the Sandiego area and saw what appeared to be a real M sport, had the bumpers, stock exhaust with rear exit, and m-pars. And it looked like somebody just curbed the front bumper over and over again. I'll offer them 3k lol.

Yeah, about 11 minutes away. Didn't know that was a thing and I might have to stop by. I didn't drive I flew so I won't be able to bring the 540 nor do I dare drive that thing in this state lol. I'm staying in Bonita with family.

Latest project I've found myself elbow deep into. IH scout with a full cage, dana 60 rockcrusher axles, 392 IH swap, dana 20 transfer case, t19 wide ratio 4 speed manual, and 37s. Pretty serious rig, redoing all of the wiring right now and trying to cobble together some semblance of "creature comforts".

A few of my Jeep nut buddies would go crazy over this, even though its not a Jeep. If I had some great 4x4 places way closer to my area I'd build up something to get serious off road with. Most good places are a couple hours drive so that has kept me on the sidelines. I like this type of build where getting it scratched up a bit is not an issue. Nice rig. Tons of low lying branches and crap are typical in the PA area so having a solid mechanical rig with a non pristine body is perfect.

Some updates on the scout, this is all the junk I pulled out of the harness. Some people shouldn't even touch wires....
Fresh wires look much better, much thicker gauge too, tired of the starter circuit smoking.
Locker had some broken dogs on the locking plates so I swapped that out and got the engine running a bit better.
It's fuel injected via a chevy tbi system, I wasn't getting an o2 readout and turns out the o2 sensor wire (single wire) melted on the headers. Fixed that up and it seems promising as of right now.
