    m235i RACING SIMULATOR BUILD

*******update at bottom post******This is now for sale********

    Hey guys

Over the past month i have been working on this project and figured some of you might get a kick from it.
It's probably one of the craziest things I've ever built as I didn't even know how or what I was going to do but I knew I wanted to build a racing rig out of a real car.
I contacted a salvage yard that a friend runs and went down to see what they had and came across a few e46 m3s and a 2015 m235i with 77 miles on it.
After tons of negotiations I came home with the m235. It was cut in half and had no driveline or suspension but was what I needed to build what I was after.
Now it was time to figure out the Controls and figure out what I can get to work from the car after being cut.
I used a thrustmaster t500 wheel set and 7 speed shifter that I had to cut and modify to the point of no return.
I then finished cutting the front and rear of the car and covered all the metal edges.
The front is cut all the way to the firewall and a 12v power supply, audio amplifier and powered subwoofer are mounted in that area.
The car has the oem door speakers and subwoofers under both seats that I wired to a 110w home amplifier. The sound is amazing and very powerful with the subwoofers under the seats and a large powered home sub mounted in the driveline tunnel.
I have the full interior working at this point including dash, heated power seats, blower motor and all interior lighting.
It uses a 70" 4K display to fully fill the windshield and at this point I'm using a PS3 for the console as I have over 20 racing games for it.
    Hope you enjoy!!
    Thanks

Are you planning on switching monitors? A panoramic setup would really complete it all!

As of now I'm not planning on swapping monitor. It fits nice in my gameroom as it is.

Seconding that. a 70+ inch curved screen would work perfectly with the contours of that car.

    That said, sweet.

+1 GT6 isn't taking advantage of the hardware you have. Pick up a PC and see the difference with yourself.

He's got a ps3 hooked up. I'd say It's making use of the hardware just fine.

As for PC, the current state of pc racing sims is a.."mixed bag", to be polite. Iracing is ancient, not particularly cheap, and graphically looks like the 13 year old game it's based on. Add to it the inability of late they've had at keeping it up for more than a day at a time, and it's a hard setup to recommend to anyone that isn't a hardcore track guy and doesn't blink at dropping an extra $350 for cars and tracks. Project CARS is an absolute unplayable disaster, rfactor 2 is a resource hog that has practically no support, asseto corsa looks pretty but is a glorified beta, and rfactor one is fun but ancient.

Really hard to argue with a logitech wheel and off the shelf console setup these days.

Project CARS was unplayable as launched but with tweaking it's great. I came across a setup that someone posted for the controller settings that improved the game greatly.

Flight simulators are pretty good, you need to get to a boneyard and pick up the front half an A-10.
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.

Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.

That looks like the X2 simulator that someone was selling in Pennsylvania or Virginia a few months ago. Did you buy it, or was that you selling it?

This is really freaking cool. My setup is a joke in comparison.

What issues have you seen with it? I played a whole lot of GRID 2 and recently started playing AC for a little more realism. I tried GT6 on the PS3 but can't get over the terrible audio. Need for Speed SHiFT 2: Unleashed was promising with car upgrades but buggy and has so much controller lag it's straight up unplayable.
