I'm running factory speakers and amp.
With a single jl audio 8"micro sub, dual voice coils bridged in series...hooked up to a 250 watt(x2)amp bridged into a single 500 watt channel for the sub.
The sub install is pretty ghetto looking for now...but it's sufficient.

Instead of replacing the entire lower control arm on my xi because the outer ball joint was bad, I bought e36 non M ball joints. I removed both arms with the bushings and lollipops intact. With an air chisel I removed the joints from the arms and installed the new ones with a ball joint press like the one AutoZone rents. Replaced both because the new joints aren't offset like the originals so the caster will be increased, or so I was lead to believe. Had it aligned and the caster change apparently affected the toe.

Gave away my BMWs, driving a VW and an Audi now.

What did you do to/for your e46 today??

Installed the hardtop kit in preparation for my trip to pick it up this week.

I used the screwdriver method on the right side and the panel removal method on the left side. I tried the screwdriver method first and it took almost an hour and was a PITA.

The panel removal method took 20 minutes and was SO much easier. Here are the easy steps:

    1) remove middle panel via 2 8mm bolts and 1 panel clip
    2) loosen the top panel via removal of 3 7mm bolts and pop the panel up just a bit for EASY access to the plug from underneath. You don't have to remove this top panel, but just lift it a bit.

You don't have to remove the seat, the main panel or anything else. Just the two steps above. Panel method was WAY easier for me.

Took my car to inspection after converting a 2000 MS42 323i manual trans to a MS43 auto trans 330. Or in other words I took all the running gear from a wrecked 2001 330i auto and put it into a 2000 323i manual trans. Way too much work. Should have just bought a different car.....Oh wait I did that. But that's another story.

I restrung the passenger side batwing, topped off the antifreeze, washed, clay-barred, polished and waxed my 325Ci convertible. Busy day. First time I ever clay-barred a car. What a difference!

Nice! How about a picture of her after spa day!!

Highly recommend clay barring. It sounds very goofy, but the science behind it and the results are amazing.

Swapped my tails for the Euro halogen red and whites, clear corners and some front LED turn signal bulbs. LOVE the LEDs; much brighter, ACTUALLY legal, and looks good.

Had a new set of Sparco Assetto Gara wheels (17 x 7.5, 18.8 lbs, Matte Graphite Silver) put on this morning... replacing the stock ones I had (they're wearing newish Michelin Premier A/S 205/50R17's... I look forward to replacing with something wider when these wear out). Didn't plan on changing wheels, but Tire Rack has a sale going, and I got them delivered with lug nuts and center-caps for $509. Took the long way home from work (combination of interstate and back roads), and I can say that these are the second-best, i.e., most noticeable, performance mod I've done (after the Shark Injector). There's a noticeable bump in responsiveness at higher speeds (50mph+)--where it needed it most--and a surprising improvement in handling--felt more taut in the corners and seems to have a slightly firmer ride. Note that the offset is a bit different from stock and pushes the wheel outward about a quarter inch. As you can see, they do a nice job of displaying the rotors, and I think they look BAD ASS!

I tried on a "new pair of shoes" at a tire shop.
He's one of my commercial parts customers, he's had these laying around his shop for a while.
    My car is a 99 e46 323i.
The front wheel is the one we tried on, he only had one tire in stock.
    Bmw style 278 (17x8 ET) tire is a 235/45r17
    What do you all think?

On the son's girlfriend's 325xi: removed fuse 39 to disable the stereo's phone function as the unit always wanted to dial out when powered on. Removed/reinserted fuses 62 and 63 and the AC stopped blowing cold and hot air at the same time.
On the wife's 325i, replaced both torn up front wheel well lower coverings (61718193811 and 812) as well as the ambient air temp sensor -- it's no longer reading 122 degrees outside.

I think it looks better than the very drab rear one which looks like something you'd see on an economy car.

Download the app called "vibrations". Turn the app on then sit it on the arm rest. Get it up to the speed where the vibration occurs and if its the driveshaft, it should be a first order vibration around 3000rpm and around 50hz.

My particular vibration occurred at two speeds, 40mph and 70+. It was 3259rpm @52hz @75mph. Changed driveshafts and it went away.

Do you have a more specific name for that app? I did a search for "vibrations" in the apple App Store. Some very interesting results come up... I wasn't aware that you could use a phone for those types of things.

Still no go. Thanks anyway. If you happen to be in the App Store and feel like posting a direct link, that would be awesome.
