Yes sir.
new 03 330i owner here. Today I fixed the power front windows. Pass regulator came with the car and the local autozone had a Dorman regulalator in stock, amazing as this is Fairbanks. Nearest dealer is in Anchorage six hours south of me. Also recovered the A pillars after reading a thread in hear. Am I crazy wanting to take this M54 motor and putting it in my 81 320i?
Just picked up an e46 that has been in storage for a couple of years. I pick it up Friday morning and will start the refurb process. This is in addition to the e31, e38 and e39 in the ever growing collection. E38 going to my step dad as his daily driver, the e39 going to my 16 year old as her daily and I'm going to keep the e46 for me.
Will post pics when I pick her up.

Replaced fuel filter after 165,000 miles on the original. Car was running great and still is before and after. I'll be replacing it from now on annually but goddamn those things last! Also put on some new exhaust tips(yea car is super dirty its been sprinkling alot)
yea staggering them. It was late at night when i did it. I checked them the next morning and yea i still need to adjust them a bit. Believe it or not i got them at oreillys. $5 each. And they are a perfect fit. Fit like a glove. No screws needed. I was never a fan of the slanted tip stock style.
Replaced the transfer case in my XI hoping it would rid a drone @ 70mph. It was unsuccessful.
^^^^ that sucks.
I just replaced the Secondary Air Injection Air Mass Sensor... it was way cheaper than I thought... $60 for OE Continental VDO.
Gotta be the diff... Don't see how the axle could
Drone without the diff having issues... Has it run dry? Im sure not but, is it like a gear whine?
It's the diff. Its not a whine, it's a loud onset growling booming noise almost like exhaust drone. Never ran dry. 145k. Getting a low mile differential tomorrow. First thought it was the driveshaft, but 3 brand new shafts later I'm ruling that out.

Changed the passenger window regulator
It's been hard to pinpoint where it's coming from. First it sounded like the front, then middle, but in reality it's coming from the rear and resonating up through the rear deck and then to the windshield area
Let us know how the new diff goes in
New diff. Same noise. I'm really close to selling this thing.
After nearly seven years with my E46, it was at a point where the projects were getting too expensive. I found a one owner 335 and traded it in. I will miss the car but will certainly enjoy the E90.
booo hiss!!!
Jk, congrats on the new car, I bought an E92 last week myself (2012 335is6 space grey) but my other cars ain't going nowhere... Bout to take then drop top E46 out now actually, get some sun on my pale skin... Vert is great for fair skinned people such as myself... Also my E46 is my only Automatic, put 18k miles on it since December when I bought it... If that tells u anything about how I feel about it... And all three cars are in perfect mechanical condition (knock on wood)... It is sad to see someone get rid of their E46, I hope it lands in good hands
Not above taking it to an indy, its just inconvenient because the closest one is 40 miles away. I have one last thing to replace before I go that route. The drivers rear axle does make a bit of noise when the booming happens. It also has close to 0.040 of runout at the inner joint giving it a "jump rope" affect.
angeleye540i, I put $8K (maintenance, tires and minor mods) into that car and DIY'd on just about all of it. There was just too much needed to keep it running and dependable so I let it go. Lord knows a clean ZHP would have been the same price but those are tougher to find.
8K While DIY is a very large number... Did u super charge it? Or own it for a while? Or rebuild every single part on it ? Or all of the above ?
I owned it for seven years and did not supercharge it. The projects consisted of a set of tires, Style 197's, cooling system, power steering pump w/hoses, brakes w/rotors, M3 tail lights and corners, coils and plugs, tensioners, sensors, CCV, windshield, O2 sensors, battery, etc, etc. It's amazing how it adds up.
Went to the two largest DIY breakers in town (pic a part and pull a part) to try to source a passenger mirror with no luck. That is the most critical piece for me to get her on the road.
I finally got the top down manually and spent a lot of time troubleshooting the maddening flashing red light.
Also did a full mechanical inspection to put my project list together. I also made it a priority to take this off:
When you are from the Midwest and you went to Purdue, that symbol is sacrilegious.
On the lift for inspection:
