Sehr Schoen!
I removed the infernal sticker put on by the dealer.
Took the terrible sticker bomb off the dash trim and cleaned the original wood trim, removed the terrible T-shaped shifter and put the stock one back on. (Soon to be a ZHP shifter).
Changed the oil (Mobil-1, 0W-40) and filter (Mann) using my new Mityvac 7201--loved it! What could be better than just sucking the oil out and changing a filter right there on top of the engine?!
Soaked the leather with Griot's leather rejuvenator.
I ordered my BMW oil change kit for mine today.

Replaced the windshield, including OEM seal.
Bought 04 M3 'vert used a few years ago. With heat, windshield rubber coming loose. Thought it was just a poor install of replacement windshield. Nope. Wrong glass. Cheap cheap rubber. Glass guy pulled rubber out with one whip of hand. Ugh. All done now, and wow! So pretty.
Next: Leather seat "covers" refinished or replaced.
Did what I said I wasn't going to do... installed a K&N CAI (M57). Reason being--"AutoAnything" had a 20% off sale along with a $25 rebate on a fair price, which got the final price close to $200, AND I just HAD to finally try one out. My '04 330xi already had Shark Injector programming, over-sized power-steering and water pump pulleys, a K&N panel filter, and heat barrier material around the intake box and tubing, and I've been pretty darned happy with it's get up and go and sound at higher revs. I was expecting the CAI to hurt me down low and help at higher revs--I was especially hoping for some mid-range boost. I was also expecting to get a big improvement in engine sound, which is what everybody (even the critics) raves about.
Of course, I ran right out and tried it after install (by the way, I covered the exterior side of the heat deflector with reflective heat barrier material). I took her out on some of my favorite runs where I'm pretty accustomed to how it behaves under WOT, and here's what I discerned...
Surprisingly, the car is noticeably more responsive at low rpms and, while I don't think power is ever diminished, I don't detect any power difference in the mid-range or higher rpms... maybe a tad.
Another surprising thing is that the noise level is hardly changed when idling or just puttering along. I expected much more noise! It DOES sound louder under throttle, but it's a muffled sort of louder roaring which I can't say I prefer to the clean, more distinct, and sophisticated snarl I enjoyed before. I noticed bystanders and other drivers found it a little more attention-getting.
On the return home, it seemed like things had maybe sorted themselves out but, when I first started her up, I heard a slight singing under light throttle and, most disturbing, when climbing a long, steep hill under WOT, I detected a slight vibration through the steering I never felt before (and I've charged up that hill MANY times).
Bottom line... I'm not sure--there are pluses and minuses so far, and I'm just going to have to wring it out a bit more. I wonder if the ECU will adjust things to some extent?

Ran it again this morning, and things seem to be settling in nicely. No vibrations, better sound, and definite increase in acceleration. All in all, I'd say I got a slight increase in power/torque and a little more engine noise for $200, which is what I was hoping for (my strategy is a little bit here and a little bit there). Now, I'll just keep my MAF sensor clean and hope for the best.

I got the M3 warmup lights working in my ZHP. M3 cluster swap is now 100% functional
Never seen that before, looks amazing. You should do a DIY

It's not something that can be DIY'd by your typical E46 owner - I had to reverse engineer a decent bit of the code to do the mod, and right now it can only be flashed via a BDM interface. If I figure out how to bypass the OBDII flashing security, then maybe I can post a DIY. And as of right now, I only have succeeded in doing the mod to the MS45.1 DME, so pre 03.5 E46s wouldn't be able to do it.

Thought I needed a new battery for my key, tried re-programming it and success! No need for new battery.
Replaced the rubber hose clamp block under the air box (or where the air box used to be). It broke when I was unclamping the hose--showing the deterioration of the rubber--a foreboding sign on an older car... although the rubber components on my 2004 look great (from North Carolina).
Fitted type 44 wheels.

Replaced windshield cowl with one from ECS today.
