Putting the Bridgestone Blizzak snows on Fritz. I'm in northern Virginia and we're slated to enjoy Snowageddon II Revenge of the Snowplows this weekend.

Same here on the pics... So glad I don't have to deal with those conditions although, it would be nice to get some white from time to time...
Cleaned the airbox which I pulled yesterday to track down a loose steering joint. This being a 3.0 engine, I'm somewhat surprised at the small openings for air intake. There's the wide narrow intake over the core support and a much smaller one lower down on front of the airbox. Do CAI's benefit this engine enough to justify the cost?
I do have one question: can I connect a trickle charger to the positive jump point in the engine compartment and to a good ground or do I need to connect it directly to the battery?
Rechecked the trans fluid level after servicing it the week before last and it was about 8oz low. Tomorrow night is the valve cover gasket....Started to leak after I did the vanos.
u can connect, anything u would connect straight to the battery, to ground and positive terminals(under hood) unless procedure requires battery disconnected from the car... Those terminals are equal to the battery terminals if everything is properly working/connected... Jump start trickle charge fast charge Etc... You can even properly test the battery from those if your wiring is solid... As far as the air Intake, I think BMW did a pretty good job with this one, some heat resistant coated products / hi flow, could be good to increase flow and more importantly prevent heat wash... I'm not quite sure what the best aftermarket is for this yet... For my 540 Dinan was definately the way to go after trying AFE and stock... But now my 540 it's Dinan from the motor head to the fog lights, and stage 4 software, and thy don't make a complete kit like that for the 330... I think the pro dry AFE intake kit would be a good little addition, be sure to not get any oiled filters though... I'm considering a pro dryS filter kit and Conforti software,... Maybe a B&B muffler... We shall see...

Strictly speaking, you already have a cold air intake in that it pulls air from outside the engine compartment. Honestly I wouldn't mess with the intake, or if you do, realize that it will only be for looks and not performance. The openings may seem small, but in most cases they're sized that way for things like intake resonance and volumetric efficiency in the interest of the widest possible powerband. Opening up the intake may net you a couple HP on the top end at the expense of 10 in the midrange. Not worth it, IMO.

Ordered angel eyes and... A set of Continental Extreme contact(TM) DW tires for my style 68s which will be here Tuesday, tires should come in this weekend or Monday...
Began to fear for my 330i (and to a lesser extent the XC60)) due to a metric sh*t-ton of snow on the leeward side of the garage roof. Threw this jury-rig roof support up. Pic of our street also.

Gave up on selling it. Will be getting new tires next month and become a weekend car.
Put control arms, middle ball joints, half shafts, pads and rotors on it in Saturday. Had over 200k on the original control arms and the ball joints weren't even terrible. Not tight, but no up and down movement, just no resistance moving it around. Only took about 3 hours, everything went smoothly. Transferred the control arm bushings since I just replaced them less than a year ago, and those too, were original.
Received my new coolant temp sensor's, Brembo brake pads for front and back, Motor mounts, sway bar links, in the mail yesterday, my local tire shop received my continental extreme contact DW tires yesterday, to go on my style 68 wheels that came today, going to have the wheels and tires mounted tomorrow... And all the other stuff done next week at my Indy
Going to my local tire shop to pick up my 330 CI with continental extreme contact DW tires put on my new staggered set of style 68 wheels, pretty exciting...
got my style 68s put on! love it.. continental EC DW's all around 769be0f6-1f97-4fd9-8a0b-74feb83752d8.jpg
Love the Style 68s. What color is your car?
My front bumper filler strip came in today. Snapped it on the bumper but it was too dark to take pictures. Soon!

My 325 got manual sport seats today, and some new drive/accessory belts/tensioners. I confirmed that nothing else was making noise, while belts were off so that job went pretty easy.
Pretty mad at myself, for not having some BMW coolant on hand though. My lower radiator hose needs replacing, I have the part but no coolant. Would have been a GREAT time to do that too.
Not a huge deal, but id like to get that in soon. Valve cover gasket oil seepage, swelled my current one a little.
yesterday replaced both wishbones, drop links and tie rods and an oil change.
tmro il try find out why my climate control doesnt work, if anyone here can help...i got a thread outlining the issue thx
Replaced my passenger side window regulator.
Window shade at 20% last weekend
Stopped by my body shop guy, to discuss some repairs needed around fuel door on 325 and getting my trim paint-matched on my 740.
Audi Club of North is putting in some ice events, coming up. So last night, I got 2 of my tires studs/bolts done. Other 2 will get done tonight. Should be a lot of fun!!
They are just bolts, threadlocked on with bead sealer around each bolt inside so tire will still hold air.
Nice tint looks good and tires look serious, I don't know thing about snow tires but those look like they would do the job... Me, I just got my front lower control arm bushing kit from Lemfφrder today, now I have waiting to install "motor mounts, sway bar links, and front lower control arm bushing's all by Lemfφrder, Lower oil pan gaskets for transmission, and motor, angel eyes, coolant temp sensor's, and Brembo pads to go all around.., these stock pads are making keeping the new style 66s clean very hard to do... Brembo pads have relatively like 1% of the dust of the stock pads and work well obviously... Gonna have my Indy put it all on either after traffic court in the AM if he thinks he can finish it before the weekend or take it Monday.... Picking up the e39 from him tomorow regardless... Wish me luck in court
Anybody interested in 17" style 79 double spoke wheels for their E46 with brand new toyo tires... PM me if interested... Set of wheels WITH tires... Upgrade your profile without having to go thru all the expense and trouble of finding tires to fit... I couldn't get the want ads to work posting from phone so PM me for details but I'm getting rid of dead weight... I also have an AFE intake for a 540 brand new in box... PM for deets
Still have my style 79 is available... My EE 46 is spending the weekend locked in my independent mechanics garage... The main tech they're injured himself working on somebody else's car and therefore the workload had to be distributed to the two other guys.... At least when I get it back it will have new swaybar links, new motor mounts, and transmission mounts, new front lower control arm bushing's, new Brembo brake pads all around us so my wheels won't be black after every drive and will look cool with the red showing through the caliper... New coolant temp sensor's, and possibly a new Vanos hose... Also one of the techs there has an e36 with AM AEs, which I got some of and told him I would toss him some extra cash if he installed mine for me while the car was in there... I could do it, but since he pulls BMs apart as his profession and has done the mod to his car I figured I'd leave them with the rest of the parts and see what happens a lot of the times if I do that they just put any parts I have lying around on for me just to be nice... I took my E39 in the week before last and he didn't even charge me for the work he did, he said he didn't remember how much time he spent on it and he didn't remember what he paid for the parts he used, so he said don't worry about it... Gotta love that
