Wow! Two racecars being built here at the same time. Nice cage, what are the specs of the tubing? Also, never seen Ohlins shocks on a car, looking good. Source on the camber plates?

    Looking real nice.

Man I like the simplicity of the rear shock hangers. Are those adjustable height to weight jack? (clevis on a threaded rod?) If I do anything over again it would be that. I had a hard time guesstimating setting my rear ride height and relocating the shock. Mine turned out ok, but scratched my head about it. Your rear space being all cut out gives lot's of 3D thought freedom. Nicely done.

    Thanks for the compliments.

    The tubing is 1.75 x .095

The camber plates are from Vorschlag for an E46 M3.

    Thanks man... appreciate it.

Honestly, I wish I could say that I came up with the design but sadly I did not. The suspension and engine rebuild are being done by legit pros so I can't take any credit. I really liked the way he designed the whole rear end.

Putting the clevis on a threaded rod would be smart, but not. They are a fixed position so any ride height adjustments is on the coilovers themselves. And yes, lots of headscratching here too, fortunately I've had some really qualified help to tackle those kinds of questions.

Loving your build thread too by the way, keep it up!

I'm super late to this thread but this is by far the best build I have ever seen on these forums since I've been on them!

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the feedback. I have spent a large part of my life drooling over various buildthreads and so it's quite fun to be doing on myself.

Amazing. Just curious the price of the coils? Also what spring did you choose? I need something new for my S52 swap and not sure the spring rate that would be best for the extra weight.

What a difference from how you started, went from cage welded to floor to a no floor tube chassis with a shell! Very nice!!!

The coils were about $3,000 for all 4. They were a custom made job though, as I'm not using a true E46 upper mount in the rear, so that bumped the price up a bit.

The springs are Eibach. 400 lbs up front and 200 in the rear. This is a total guess on the part of myself and the fabricator I have helping me. The plan is to try it out and change the weight as needed once I can drive it around and feel it out. Hope that helps 🤙🏽

Yeah, it's gone through some pretty big iteration changes over the couple years I've had it. If fact the title for this thread is now wrong as I'll be going with full Group 5 kit instead of the group 2.

And I thought Ski's "M20" build thread got out of hand

    Some progress.

These are not the actual wheels but just being used for mockup as the cage and suspension is being finalized.

Honestly it would only be a guess at this point, but my guess is somewhere between 2100 and 2400 pounds. We shall see!

Cage work is pretty much done, just needs on bar to complete the front end. Next, on to sheet metal work!
