Most wont see it but there is a huge red flag for a poorly fixed front end accident, thus the price is not worth it.

-what look to be dents on pass side.
    -rear bumper out wack
-Front lights not identical (one closed turn signal, one open)
-Pre lci grills (poor hood alignment too)
    -Not original bumper.

    Tread with caution

But +1 we need a CL / deals thread.. It's a HOT topic on the E38 section.

I'd be interested if this thread produced good deals on performance, aesthetic mods, like group buys on headers, bumpers, wheels, etc.

And the guy can't even spell "titanium". I can't understand why if your trying to sell a big ticket item, at least take a minute to spell check and not sound like an idiot.

It's cooler than titanium silver, it's "tit-as-nium" silver

Trying to learn a little bit here....
What provides the clues that the bumper is not original? Good eyes if you can see a difference in the headlights. They look the same to me but I'm not a connoisseur.
Where do you look in the pictures to see that the hood is out of alignment?

Is the rear bumper out of whack because it looks like the LHS top is narrower than the RHS?

    Thanks.

As far as the front bumper, It looks to fit okay, but the absence of the T bar is questionable. (More so since other front end bits are not 03 spec, let alone LCI spec -grills-).
The rear bumper is off alignment where it meets the fender.

There are actually 2 OEM types of US headlights, these are what we get normally. -enclosed style- turn signal
Majority of the time I see the closed style, every 03 540i came like this.

And this is another type, not sure what market exactly, but I very rarely see this style on cars, usually retrofitters. (Notice how the turn signal area is different in design -open-).
The car in the ad, has a mix match of both. Not a good sign.

For the hood, the key thing is to note how well it aligns with the very front most tip of the fender. It should be 100% flush. In the ad, the hood sits a bit too high.
It's usually due to the shop workers not moving the adjustment tabs that are on the front radiator support after a hood swap.

I just bought a decent set of 18" staggered style 32 rims off CL last Friday, the seller bought from another seller who told him the wheels were off an e39, he bought for his m3 but offset does not fit, so when I showed up, the center bore of those wheels are not 74.1mm e39 wheels so I cannot put on my car, they must come off e38 7 series but since the seller only ask for $200 for the set, I bought them anyway, I can have them drilled to 74.1mm bore. My current wheels are also style 32 but they are 17" staggered and two front wheels are not in good shape.

A lot of e39s on local CL but few in decent shape:

Thank you for the education. I appreciate that you had to take time out of your day to do this. Cheers!

That first Chicago post must be smoking something nice. $11,000 for a 525?

I personally saw the one in Tampa which is very clean. The interior is actually a mint green color and the place wanted $900 for the whole interior.

It's already too high so whoever wins, loses. I know of a 200k complete 03 540 M sport in silver with bad guides that could be bought for $2k right now here in town.
