I mean with the DINAN bits, especially wheels and signature BBK, that counts for something.

That and on top of being a very clean car (and 6spd).

A comparably equipped / condition (Don't forget mileage!) M5 would likely be way more.

No, not an option anywhere for that year. More that likely it's a "typo" unless he bored out a six cylinder and "his" is a 4.0 Liter.

Wow this makes me feel better about my purchase. Picked up an 02 540i6 off Craigslist for 3900. Came with over $10k worth of service records from the past 5 yrs as well.

You can't compare wagon prices to sedan prices. Wagons, 540 wagons are a niche, sedans, even 540 sedans are a norm.

I've had my 540 for 2 years now. Ive seen maybe 3 others on the road during that time frame. Quite a few 530 and 525 though, and a couple 528

Houston must be a real depressing place to live, out here I see E39’s left and right..... you know what I mean, I see at least 2 or 3 everyday. See a whole mix of 540’s, 528’s, 530’s, and 525’s. Quite a bit running around here still.

I almost never see any E39 540i's on the road anymore, chain guides killed all of the ones that weren't owned by enthusiasts. Occasionally I'll see a 525i or 530i, but that's not super common. Everyone here is obsessed with leasing the newest base model 320i/330i.

mine is the only 528i ive seen here since moving here, seen a coupla 525's in so so shape, and two 540's, one was nicely kept, the other not so much.
