    Trust me, I want that more than anything! Still waiting on parts to just put the damn engine back together. I was hoping to get it in this weekend; doesn't look like thats going to happen. More like next weekend..

    And I am not saying this turbo will make 600whp at 22 psi, or 600 whp period. But it should easily meet my goal of 400-450, and there should be plenty of head room for 500-550whp down the road if I want to push it. Again, I don't KNOW this, but based on my limited ability to read compressor maps and speaking with a few people, I think its a logical conclusion..

    I think you are smart to buy a turbo that meets your needs rather than one that could make a lot more power. In other words, don't buy a 700 rwhp turbo if you want to make 500 rwhp. You will pay a price in response.

    I agree the Garrett GT turbos are out dated. They still do a good job and are sturdy and reliable but there are newer turbos out there with more modern aerodynamics that are worth considering.

    A BB turbo will probably give you better response in daily driving, all other aspects being fairly equal. But you will pay more.

    Its the BFc way. Use a 1000hp turbo to make 500hp and then wonder why response sucks....

    The AirWekrs turbos have surprisingly good response for a JB turbo. Obviously ball bearing is better, but for budget minded people (like a majority of us) the JB turbos can still have great response.

    So you feel the s362 (62mm) will have roughly the same response as the gt35r or 6262/6 ? I'm interested to see Avees dyno if he goes soon. And maybe overlay it to Chikinhed's.

    we just did a s360 on a 2.8 and it would reach positive boost by 2500 and 15 psi by 4000.

    Spool and full boost are 2 different things, both of the turbos I ran on my car spool around 2000rpm 2100rpm, but one is hitting 20psi by 3400rpm and the other 20psi by 5750rpm

    Load the dyno enough and you might see it even earlier. I see boost earlier on the street than on the (nonadjustable load) Dynojet I have run on a few times. Gearing also can affect load, whether on dyno or street.

    We need a standardized real world test for the onset of boost. It is not hard to come up with one. It is hard to get everyone to do it and report their results.

    For example, level ground, steady 2000 rpm cruise, floor it in 1st and note the rpm at which you see 15 psi. Have a friend do the watching or recording of rpm and boost so you can focus on driving. Repeat for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.

    So much stuff effects spool up as well. For example, race gas maps should spool up much better than 93 octane maps.
    Cams play a part, having a sorted car plays a part, exhaust will play a part, what manifold you run and back housing will play a part.

    We need someone with a top mount AR design to dyno 15 different turbos for us with different back housings. So we can settle it once and for all.

    Also that 2.8 had m3 cams, a cutring/spacer, and was STREET tuned for 91 octane REMOTELY.

    Well, we should see Avee's 362 dyno soon and compared to Chikinhed's 62mm gtx35 . they are buddies, so will probably go on same dyno, same day. It will be best apples to apples, BW 62 vs Garrett 62.

    So still waiting on parts unfortunately, however I got a bit done today after a small package from pelican arrived with a few gaskets.
    Got more of the short block assembled:

    Then I ran the wires for the wide band and did a bunch of soldering and heat shrinking!

    Annnnnd then some random pics of the vehicle that has made this whole build possible..

    Great for picking friends up from work

    Got the cut ring and spacer today so I finally installed those and the head.

    Couple questions;
    How long did you guys let your copper sprayed spacer dry? I let mine dry for 5 minutes or so to let the solvents flash and thats it. Still a bit tacky when installed. This OK?

    I RTVd timing cover area both on the timing cove itself and also the head. OK?

    I let mine sit an hour but it doesn't do much...it's supposed to stay tacky. I RTV'd between the block and timing chain cover on mine as well, no issues. Not sure about between the head gasket and timing chain cover though
    '93 325is: ZF swap, Borla Type X muffler, cat delete, X Pipe, Tune, Powerflex bushings (subframe, diff, RTAB, LCAB), Apex ARC8's, Raceland Ultimos, Corbeau seat, Renown steering wheel, M3 front and rear bumpers, BMW motorsports moulding, Euro tails, Depo headlights (soon to be retrofitted)

    Question;
    Put the cams in and locked them and crank at TDC, went to put the primary chain sprocket on the exhaust cam and there is very little play in the chain. Heres the question; is it normal with a thicker head gasket that the tensioner hardly moves the sprocket at all? Ya know how you install the sprocket with the holes biased to the left? And when you install tensioner it moves the sprocket so the holes are centered? Now when I install the sprocket with the holes biased left and install the tensioner, it hardly moves. Still biased to the left. The chain has some slack in it, so it feels okay.. but this just concerns me? New chains btw.
