    Kinda a laggy turbo.

But what do you expect for a turbo build on a college budget. Sorry about that.

id throw the current system away and start over. Let me know when you throw it in the dumpster so I can go dumpster diving. .

This 366sxe on E85 exceeded expectations. There are A LOT of very salty, butthurt V8 guys in Bham because of this car lol.

As far as vids goes guys, my buddy actually got some sweet footage of my car (drone footage as well) and has been editing it. As soon as its done I will post in here.

FYI, there are guys on this forum that make 29psi at 1200rpm with 106mm turbos on inertia based dynos.

Your turbo is a huge pile of shit.

Other turbos like the SXE's, garrett GT's and precisions make peak boost at the same rpm, but the boost starts coming on earlier and more gradually so you have a softer hit and more power under the curve at low rpms. That may or may not be important to you. It never meant shit to me as I don't care how much power I made at 4000 rpms, except now I have to get shit to spool against a torque converter. The really interesting part is the extra power up top at the same amount of boost. I would attribute this to less drive pressure due to more efficient compressor. Honestly if the dyno results are anything typical that will be the cheapest HP gain in the world. $200 difference in price for 60 whp. Even if its only half that gain its still an awesome gain for the price.

Here is BlackPerlz's dyno results between 366 and 369sxe, but he changed manifolds as well and had tuning issues on the 369 so not much to be drawn from that

Borg warner has different turbine wheels in some of the SXE turbos as well. Borg warner has primarily two different turbine wheel designs, a curved blade design and a straight blade design. All the curved blade designs flow really well up top but spool slower. The straight blade designs spool much faster but will have more back pressure up top. The new turbines wheels on the SXE turbos are kind of a hybrid of the two. The bigger S300's usually come with a 80x73 curved blade turbine, and the smaller s300's usually come with a 76x68 straight blade turbine. I know of 9 different turbine wheels used on S300's but only the 80mm curved and 76mm flat ones are usually used on the aftermarket ones.

old S366 on left, new S366sxe on right. You can see the old style S366 wheels are "clipped" meaning part of the trailing edge of the turbine wheel is machined off.

old S366 80x73 curved blade turbine

    S362 76x68 straight blade turbine

The same is true for the S400's as well. There are 5 different S400 turbines. The straight blade ones are 83x74, 87x71, and 92x82mm. The curved blade turbines are 87x80 and 96x88mm. Anybody still awake?
    some awesome information, thanks SG2800.

Rajicase, did you confirm your new turbo did infact come with the straight blade turbine as shown in the top picture, right side. This might explain why your spool is so impressive.

Pretty sure mine is the non-machined wheel. SO yes, top right.

i had to go back and look at a picture my turbo to confirm mine.

Wonder with all these spool comparison threads, if this shouldn't be discussed more, and or noted. Not that I have a dog in that fight.

So I had a 10lb wg spring set up in my tial 44, trying to improve spool I put a 20lb set up in as that seems like a reasonable low boost setting.
Well this turbo spools so well on e85 that it was hitting 31psi on my boostlogic manifold which is pretty well known for great boost control. Scared the shit out of me, motor seems OK, guess we will thank E85 for saving my ass on that one......
Guess I will try a 15psi spring in the wg and see if that controls boost a bit better. Ideally I need to be able to control boost down to at least 22-23psi. I enjoyed how much more responsive the car was with the 20psi spring , but I cant control boost.... HRM

    Oh yeah,
So I was running a older walbro 450 , had an 85 psi relief valve meaning when my fuel pressure got to 85 it would start bleeding pressure. My AFRs were super unstable in boost.
Changed the pump to a 450 with a 125psi relief valve and now the AFRs are rock solid.

Did you try running regulated pressure to the top of the wastegate at all with the softer spring? That should help spool some, and may give you the control you would like. But maybe you tried it already.

Is the new 450 the one in the link you posted a while ago that I said I had recently installed in my 540 mit turbo? I need to put a 450 in my E36 soon, and I might as well put the 125psi one in that sucker.
