For example-T the signal line from the compressor to the manifold or BOV with a clear silicone tube and an ounce (or whatever) of water in the tube. The tube should have a low spot below the compressor outlet and manifold. An M shape will get you around ground clearance issues and if you want the center point of the M can be above the compressor. The compressor outlet pressure will push the water in the tube towards the manifold. As measured perpendicular to the ground (not the arc distance) the water will move say 10 inches vertically towards the manifold. This 10 inches of water column can be converted to PSI or whatever you prefer. Its a direct reading of the difference in pressure between the 2 ends of the tube and more accurate than most gauges on the market. A little water in the manifold shouldn't be a problem. Don't hydrolock your motor with a gallon of water.

You could even run enough silicone tube to watch the water column in the cabin. However, there is pressure loss in the silicone tube. Make sure the center point of the M in the tube has the same distance from the center point of the M to the compressor and the manifold. You want the pressure drop in the silicone the same on both sides of the sample point and then your results don't need fancy math.

You can also use this to determine the spring needed in the BOV.
    Neat. Very cool idea!

Waiting on a new valve cover, should be here next tuesday.

I'm also re doing my scavenge pump hoses. And I ordered a walbro 255 so I should be safe to crank the boost way up when I'm ready. Before I put it back on the ground I am putting a 10psi spring in, which should get me about 8psi at the intake. I'll probably leave it there till I get a dyno tune. Hopefully that will be soon.

Yesterday I rewired my boost and wb gauges, re did my turbo intake pipe, and put a nice k&n cone filter on, and cleaned up my scavenge pump wiring.

Sounds good, did you solve the boost drop issue or you're hoping to resolve tag with the 10 psi spring?

And VOLOSSO! lol... I'd be running 25 psi right now if it were up to you :p ... I will turn it up, but I'd like to get a dyno tune before I do. I can't afford to blow this engine up.

Well I think it is attributed to the fact that my wg reference is right off the compressor housing where pressure is the greatest and my boost gauge is in my intake manifold where pressure is going to be the lowest. And my boost gauge only reads in whole numbers. So my boost drop from compressor housing is likely 1.5-2 psi which doesn't seem all that far fetched.

And I'm running a boost logic manifold which is known to be one of the best in terms of boost control. So I'm not surprised I'm not getting any creep even on a weak wg spring.

I still haven't boost leak tested, been busy between work and school. But I welded all my chrge piping so I only have 4 silicone couplers. I also epoxied the hell out of all fittings. And I'm running an authentic tial bov. So I'd be shocked if I had any major boost leaks. Maybe my compressor housing? But again, my numbers seem pretty reasonable.

Sounds good bro, let us know the results on the 10psi spring. Sound like if you do have a boost leak, there aren't many places you'd have to look. Can't wait for vids so I can live through you vicariously lol.

Its not like I am babying it.

I broke it in following the mototune method, its seen plenty of hard acceleration up to 6500ish rpms. But I havent done any extended WOT pulls yet. Bottom line is that after a fresh engine install and installing a custom, pieced together turbo set up(my first FI build), I have driven it with no issues and haven't had to troubleshoot anything yet. No weird codes. No idle issues. No vac leaks, bad sensors, fuel issues, etc. So I am gonna keep doing what I am doing, seems to be working. I think there is a fine line between being too easy on a new engine and beating the shit out of it and toying with significantly more power than I have ever experienced and being reckless.

Vollosso makes it seem like I am granny shifting at 2000 rpm lol.

Good for you. Don't let them talk you into something you're not ready for. Lots of folks have the money, time, resources to fix things easily and quickly, but not everyone.

Lots of guys have had motor failures too. I'd rather have a fun 500 hp car than a broken 700 hp car.

My line of thought. My goal from the beginning is a reliable 400ish whp car with a bit of room for more later.

And I definitely dont have the time/resources to throw a ton at this car right now. I did the build in my mothers car port cause the place I am staying at now has a mud pit for parking area >.< School and work take up most of my time right now, so I just want a reliable toy.

Slowly turn it up. Make sure your all good and safe.

Maybe pickup a dual stage MBC. I had one for a bit. Turbosmart makes a nice one. Then you can put a rocket switch in and flip a switch for more boost. Start dialing it up, one # at a time.
