Sorry I completely forgot about this.. I feel like an idiot because everyone told me it was a sticking lifter and I didn't believe them. Well I was wrong Ive never heard a stuck lifter sound so bad, but lesson learned. MY fault.... Oh well car is almost back together.
Dont forget where u came from rajicase

You need to decide if the noise is under or above the car.
Additionally, Lifters and rods will sound way different. It’s hard to explain but a knock over a tick.
The lifter noise will persist until you have enough oil pressure to fill all the lifters.

Sorry ABQ forgot about this. I do have the sound on video if you still need it. Oh, and how did I figure it out?
I got pissed at the car. Seriously. Went into my garage in the middle of the night and decided I was going to rev the shit out of the car till something broke. Was so fed up. Well I revved the piss out of the car and after bouncing off the limiter for a minute, I let off... and silence.
Car is doing good. Back to pissing off the local V8 mouth breathers.
Also, sold my 135i. Looking into picking up another E36 M3 as a daily. Or I have $13k to drop on the racekar..... Decisions decisions..
Interesting on giving up the 135 and going to a 20 year old DD that won’t be much fun compared to your fun car. I have a modded 08M3 to compliment my turbo 99M3 - very different high revving NA motor but if you work it hard it is fun. I want whatever car I drive much to be a lot of fun — I drive each about 6-8k miles per year. I’d like a modded E63 AMG BiTurbo and a 991.2TT but don’t quite have the funds.
The E36 M3 is probably the most fun car I have ever driven. I liked the 135 a lot, was a very fun car and very quick with FBO. But it just was missing something. Not even sure I can put my finger on it. Ive driven E46 M3s, 135s, 335s, e9x m3s, etc.. They all just lack something the E36 has. Maybe Im just a weirdo... but some of my most memorable driving experiences came in my E36 M3 back when it was still NA. I want to relive that... Im hoping that finding a clean, low mileage example will do that for me.
