I can't donate blood or plasma because being born in Europe during the 90's apparently means I carry mad cow disease...

if being born in Europe in the 90s doesn't guarantee livestock related illness, living in the American South certainly will.

Okay guys just placed orders for the remaining parts. Ordered rings, bearings, gaskets, etc.
Once the parts arrive I can slowly start putting this thing back together.

Also in addition to the following parts, I also have BRAND new lemforder ball joints for the rear trailing arms of an e36. Should fit all 95-99 m3s, don't know about e36s. It is an upgrade for 95s (replaced bushing) and direct replacement for 96+. Will let them go cheap! ($45) , are $32/ea from a vendor.
Please buy some parts to fund my build XD

    - - - Updated - - -

    ARP rod bolts $70

    X brace for e36 $100

    (2) BRAND NEW IN BOX Lemforder ball joints for rear trailing arms (95-99 m3) : $45

    S52 crank: $250

    M52 crank: $50

    OBD2 valve cover: $40

    OBD2 ignition coils : $75

Like new OE OBD2 knock sensors : SOLD

S52 cam trays with lifters: $100

Okay guys question time now that I'm gonna start working on the engine soon; I got the engine back from the machine shop and it's fairly concerned but I am concerned of metal shavings being in the cylinders/oil passages. I am going to clean the cylinders with some warm soapy water but what is the best way to clean/ensure the oil/coolant passages are clean with now metal dust or shavings in them?

The water passages aren't much of a concern. The oil passages are. The easiest way is to blow them all out with a pressure washer with a straight tip.

    Couple more questions.
Are the oil squirters just press fit into their little holes in the block or is there some way they are retained?

Also, looking at my piston rings there is a thinner silver ring that I assume is the top ring and then a slightly fatter ring with a black coating on it, assuming that is my 2nd ring? Out of the box the gap on what I think is the top ring is 0.010" and the 2nd ring is 0.017". I gotta look at the spec sheet from JE but I know the top ring needs to be opened up quite a bit and the 2nd one needs a bit of filing as well.

Soap is not good to use for cleaning engine parts. Any residual soap can lead to oil foaming and a reduction of film strength at bearings. Varsol or other solvent is the way to go.

The oil squirters are retained by the main bearings and oil pressure acting on the surface area of the bottom side of the squirters.

Use the specs provided for a turbo engine and make sure you identify which ring is which by part number and the writing on the ring faces up.

The only writing on the rings is a "N" which I get faces up.

    Good info on the soap!
