First stage as you are aware is here:

Just today our good friend RVAE34 finally made the right decision and let me buy his super sweet low mileage S62 (around 50K) with accessories. So, this Saturday, I will head up there and feast upon the agreed-upon lunch provided and make my way home with the new powerplant.
The M62TU and VF-E stage 2 supercharger kit will be up for sale shortly and then I'll shop supercharger kits for the S62. Finally my dream will come true for this car.
Still deciding whether to keep my Evolve headers or sell those to help recoup some cost from this project. My understanding is they aren't really big power adders on a supercharged car like they are on a normally aspirated car.
More to be posted soon.

Oh snap!
Excellent idea, that's going to be one hell of a wagon, and it's already pretty badass.

Sweet!!
That's an RK blower kit. I've been speaking to them and ESS about it. I will get one or the other probably.
I would imagine the headers will fit. Check gasket part numbers and/or manifold part numbers between S62/M62 and that engine and if the same, they should work.

auaq, want to ride up w/me to RVA's house and pick up the engine? Saturday morning. Trying to find a pickup (do you know anyone who will let us borrow) or something to tow with (I can rent a Uhaul trailer).

I got the Ess kit ready to go in, want to compliment it with some RK parts. Definitely subscribing to this thread for ideas for my m540 lol!!

I'll ask my friend politely and see if he's willing to let me borrow his truck. Mind you he drives an old Nissan truck, 4 cylinder and 5 speed. He DD's it everyday and taking all his scrap metal stuff in the bed and dropping it off at the yard. I'll also ask him if he knows anybody with a trailer too. However, I was thinking of driving the M5 to Brandon's place and hopefully give him a ride and let him drive also. I'll let you know.

Just asked my friend and unfortunately he can't as his other cars broke down, so his truck is his DD. Don't know anybody else who's got a trailer either. So, rent it from Uhaul I guess ....
Thanks, I'll keep looking.

Interchangeable part #'s for the exhaust gaskets although an odd configuration but the bolt holes match up. Let me know if you're into parting with them. I might have had to let the s/c pass but perhaps the 4.6 wagon can have headers afterall!

The evolve headers were made for the S62 engine unless if this particular header was specifically made for the M62 even then I think they should fit with no problems. They are both the same.
Adding an S62 to your car will essentially make it a bona fide M5 touring, since you already have the other elements of an M5 in place (quad exhausts, M5 bumpers, M5 mirrors).
Now personally I'm not a fan of forced air, but it should be cool to see how this works out. Are you putting in the supercharger with the S62, or is that going to be a later upgrade?

Stick the new motor in Auaq's M5!!
Hey B, you have a hitch on the tour, can't you just hook a trailer up to that? Trailers are light, so it should be OK. You have wiring for trailer lights?

I could, but it's not back together and may not be in time. Plus it seems silly to put it all back together, bleed coolant, etc and then take it all apart the same or next day. Seems more reasonable to just keep on disassembling from this point.
Yes, the car does have trailer wiring.

You plan on adding that little "sport" button to go with the new engine and dme? Was reading through jeds m5 touring build on m5b while I was bored at work... He mentioned have to change essentially whole interior harness to m5 and then splice in the tailgate stuff.
Otherwise you can always program the car to always be in sport or adjust the steering/throttle sensitivity to which ever way you want it... Since you have the servotronic box already

I put the M5 steering box in a while ago. I think the servo is bad so I'll switch that out when the engine is out.

Spent about 90 minutes on it tonight. Removed the radiator, blower, and drained PS fluid and oil.
Tomorrow morning I will try to get the transmission out and begin working on the subframe. Hope to make some good progress because at 9:30am auaq will pick me up and take me to get the rental truck and then it's off to RVAE34's house to pick up the goodie bag.

Wow, has this just come out of nowhere? The last I saw you were getting Frank to re-tune your m62.
Iirc you bought an S62 initially and then sold it? In any case, this should be an interested thread to watch!! Good luck
