    Big block i6 e39

    Hi everyone,

I'm new here and pretty new to BMW goodness as well, but after much thought, it seemed like a good idea to share my build with you.

    The basics are....

    Engine: Nissan TB48
    Transmission: Ford/ZF 6r80
    Diff: Nissan R230
    Turbo: Large
    Sump: Not wet

I just moved into my new house and so I finally have a garage again after almost 2 years of having no space to work on anything fun. Before I moved any furniture the first thing I did was Park the e39 in the garage and start removing parts and spreading tools and mess everywhere. That was about 5 weeks ago and since then I've made pretty good progress. I'll go through everything up to where I'm at currently shortly and include a few pictures, however I just finished a 12hr night shift and need to go and pass out for a while..

All stock and in desperate need of boost..

    Dave

Time for some 930 cv adapters. Made from en26 steel

    Nissan R230 to 930cv

Stock 528i outer CV housing / stub ale with adapter to 930cv

Finished with 4340 axles. Cv joints have chromoly cages also. The outer CV sits further inboard which isn't ideal and I had to modify the lower rear arms to clear the cv boot

    All together

Obviously painted the trans mount before final install

She's in! This motor is LARGE, I'll measure the difference in size between the TB48 and the 2.8 that was in there

That's impressive. By the looks of it, you have your own machine shop? I've never heard of those engines. Time for research

You sir have mad skills. Very enjoyable to view. Please keep the updates coming. I know it's a pain to stop and take a picture in the heat of a build, but I for one will enjoy.
    Look forward to future installments.

I wish I had a machine shop! We have a workshop at the place where I work that I use after hours sometimes. I do have some of my own machines but they are in storage until my big shed is built. I get by mostly with a tig and a 5" grinder.

Impressive skill set! And also impressive how much custom work you did in a very short amount of time.

Been a bit of a slow few days unfortunately. Mostly running around getting bits and pieces. Got some chromoly to make a front sway bar, a few intake bits and a flex fuel sensor. Also got some aluminum tube for the dry sump hard lines. Working 12hr shifts all weekend too which doesn't help. Hopefully I can be motivated to get a bit done after work :-)

Holy crap!! The first thing I read in your first post was the engine TB48 and I was like, "BLOODY HELL YEAH!!!!!" This is going to be so good. Having grown up / born / raised in middle east, UAE, I know what these 'big block I6' engines are really capable of. I just wish I could see more of a toyota turbocharged 1FZ as well but most like to go for the TB48 engines from nissan. Well done.
