New coil fixed a miss at idle and load. Tried the boot first but no luck.
With no engine light to help I just unplugged a coil while it missed to see if it sounded the same.
I thought I had narrowed it to a coil boot, but I guess 5 and 1 sound close to the same when missing.
Good thing the coils are covered, that one new coil would bother the crap out of me if it was visible.
Not my car, drove to DE to help a friend do the Besian seals on his i6.
His car had over 200k on it, the engine was still super clean inside.
Doing the i6 seals is very easy.
Ya they are. I've been procrastinating doing it on the 540 because it looks way more of a pain.
It's not that had to do the V8 seals after you remove EVERYTHING and then have to time the motor after you have it put back together. That's what make it harder to do.
The i6 doesn't require timing when you do the vanos seals.
exactly you have to remove everything and time it. that's just nuts.
Compared to just removing the vanos and replacing the seals its a bit more of a project.

Well, imagine then what it's like if you were to do a vanos refresh on a S62 along with timing the engine ...

I like Bosch too. Changed one in my 530i a couple of weeks after I bought it back in 2011 and it's still going strong. This year I changed one in the M5 too with Bosch again. On another note, the battery in my 530i has never given me any issues ever. The stamped date on it says 09/2009 and we're approaching the end of this year 2015. It's an Excide battery too. I haven't checked what is in the M5 though, but I'm super happy and impressed with my 530i. It starts immediately and never quits or dies even at now 203k mi.
Saw I have an oil leak... Pretty sure it's the VCG. Will inspect later this week.
Painted the other three reps this morning. I'll let 'em sit overnight and mount them tomorrow.
Speaking of alternators, anybody tried a rebuild kit? I saw a kit with both bearings and a regulator on EBay. Since I've got a dead alternator sitting in the basement it got me wondering.
I replaced rear tires today, also replaced all four brake hoses and bleed new brake fluid
replaced brake wear sensors and two out of four O2 sensors.

Started working on my M5 suspension overhaul today. Got all the front control arms and the steering links out of the car. Will drop the struts tomorrow and will hopefully sell them soon.
I picked up a gang of 530/540 sport brake parts last week from bavariane31 so if anybody needs any brake parts PM me they can be had for next to nothing plus shipping.
I bought the Dinan throttle body to go along with the Dinan CAI and MAF tube I already have.
Guess it's time to put the fat runner intake manifold on the car and get stage 5 tune.
Removed one leaky slushbox..
New rear main seal
Ready to put this in..
6 speed swap from an m5 - clutch, 6spd, ds, and rear diff..

hell yeah Jim.... You get the software to run with it?
I got my D5 back from my local tech with all new ball joints in the rear integral links in the rear lower control arms in the rear one lower control arm in the front cross drilled rotors in the front and rear new brembo brake pads in the front (riding out my rear pads) only paid for a few labor hours as opposed to 11-12 hours which is what that would call for
Yeah I'm running stage 4 without the manifold but what u have on the intake
Put in New ebox fan yesterday, installed new lower fender liners/pork chops and filled up with gas.
Leaving in the morning for road trip to south Carolina. Hopefully the car treats me well or I'll be posting all over the board crying for help.

I thought about messaging some of y'all to meet and check out the cars in person... I'm traveling to spartanburg and looks like Raleigh is about 3.5 hrs out. Maybe on Sunday on the way home. I will bug you and see if time allows and we can arrange a meet! Which I'm sure you will be having your typical wrenchfest or storage unit wrenchfest! haha
