Today while driving my 540 to my buddies to use his lift for the suspension overhaul I was set to start it decided it needed some attention and the alternator seized up, shredding the belt and taking a few other things with it. Glorious... good thing I'm not traveling for work 25 of the next 30 days, I'll have loads of time to fix it...

Opinions on replacing the alternator with something non OE? Don't really want to drop a ton more money after buying all the suspension components.

in all fairness, assuming its the ST, it's a fantastic little hot hatch
the upcoming RS will be an absolute fire-spitting dragon of a hot hatch

Threw my backup alternator in her. Wasn't such a bad gig. After that I went back to work on my wheels. I'm dying to paint them but I still see spots that could be better. Just gotta be patient.

Yea, it's about to be the right range, kinda pricey, you can talk to the shop guys about some cash deal, it usually way cheaper.

Installed new D2S low beam headlight bulb on the driver side. No more CHECK LOW BEAM LIGHT message.

On Tuesday, went over to my buddy's place to replace the wheel speed sensors. The left front was replaced a month back or two while all other three were replaced this week. Still having the dreaded and occasional trifecta lights and the TIRE CONTROL INACTIVE message. There's a brief self diagnosis and a DIY kind of thread I found that I could follow that to diagnose what's wrong with my ABS/DSC module but I'm leaning towards a typical bad/failed ABS module. I might also replace the brake pressure sensor as a preventive measure. I'll probably get both of them from Adam. That's all I have to do to get rid of anymore warning messages and have a clean looking cluster.

My next mod/repair will hopefully be the headlights. For the time being I'll probably replace both headlight assemblies while I save up money for an upgrade to Umnitza ones with its various additional features/packages.

In the meantime, hopefully this coming week, I'm finally going to start working on the suspension refresh on the M5. I have all the parts, the tools, and the time to tackle this job. I'm still thinking about subframe reinforcement whether should I do this or not. I asked a couple of F/I E39 about how are their sub frame holding up so far. One member who's been making 800+ whp/wtrq and doing the 1/2 mile to 1 mile race said that he hasn't replaced/refreshed anything in the rear end and that his front diff mount is doing great so far. So, since the S62 is all stock with no add-on I might just leave it as it is. Just going to drop it, strip it and remove everything attached to it even the diff mount bushings, and then will take it to a parts washer to clean it up.

Went to a local meet for the first time in months then lowered my window and it successfully stopped & got stuck halfway. Horay. (Still moves up/down, but never fast half up).

I had an Indy do the regulator a few months ago too. Warranty time.

It was time to move on. I enjoyed my e39 but just needed to get into something else. I like the way the focus handles for a fwd.Like I told the other fellow I'll be back one day with a 540i m sport or m5. Plus they gave me 3k for my 525i man. Lol

Nothing wrong with Focus, I drove a auto Yaris and liked it, tiny little car, zip zip and forget about shifting. Sometimes it's kind of nice to not caught up in the consciousness of BMW.

I can agree with that. I like my Focus I don't turn my nose up at cars too much. Buddy of mine has a ZX3 hatch and I liked his so I decided to test the new MKIII. They're little go karts to me.
