The top piece I did not have to paint and the bottom piece being the usual culprit for scratches and missing paint, I used duplicolor perfect match universal flat black. It's slightly more flat than the top piece but it matches the new wrap material. I sanded it with 150 310 400 ans 800 grit. The 150 was to remove all the old soft touch paint. Overall I am happy qith the finished product. It's almost like a new steering wheel...
Dude, you’re a seamstress….. Nice work! Thanks for the link, just a little confused, in the ebay link, in one section, it says artificial leather, in another section, it says real leather. Was that pleather, or real leather?

Well, today I parked my newly acquired E39. It's a one-owner 2003 530i with the same exact specs as my dad's old 2003 530i he sold in 2013, besides this one being a black interior instead of his crayon grey. Paint is in really good condition and every common E39 problem has been repaired by the previous owner (torque converter, radiator, valve cover gasket, etc) with a large binder of records. Only problems it has is the ABS light, seat twist for front driver's side, sunroof arms broken, and bad tires. Interior needs some work, but nothing I can't restore and fix. I just need to finish my E38 before I start on this project.
Finished my timing chains and put 750 miles on her in 2 days, no leaks and no noises minus the A/C belt disintegrating.

In the sad process of winterizing the RHD PNZR, sad to do it, but it is necessary as it may be driven 1-5 times before spring as it is remote to me

Spent about an hour to removed steering angle sensor which gave me error and DST light on, was trying to clean the disk but found out the 4 small bolts to hold down the plastic cover are mini torx head bolts, not sure what size, maybe T3 or T4, so ordered a set of torx driver from Amazon, will see if I can open the cover.
Also, windshield washer is not spraying washer fluid anymore, suspect the pump went, ordered one, will replace it in this coming weekend.
So the torx bit is T6, I got the steering angle cover open and used alcohol to clean the disk, it is really dirty. Put it back and re-calibrated steering angle sensor, but the light is still on, I forgot to lift up the 2 little copper brushes so that might be the issue, or the steering angle sensor is just shot?

Since my E38 is at a body shop getting painted and I had some free time, I used my rug doctor to clean my E39's floor carpet. 18 years worth of dirt and grime pictured above. Had to use a stronger cleaner, so I sprayed 1:1 diluted Simple Green and scrubbed. Cleaned the carpet until the water started coming out clean. Might do a second session to ensure everything is 100% clean since we will still have hot weather in the upcoming days.
I recently bought a 2003 540iA with 45k miles that needed minimal work and a front bumper. Tried to change outer tie rods today, but I guess I'm too much of an amateur or not strong enough, I never was able to unscrew to existing outer rod from the inner one after I popped the ball joint... I'm gonna try again on a lift and with some help in case it's a strength issue lol. If anyone has tips please advise, thanks !!
Crap, got screwed again…. It’s these damn carpenters and crap around here with their beat up work trucks, and crapped out work vans dropping nails and crap all over the NOVA area. I know it happens everywhere, but goddamn it, this is where I live. This place has really gone downhill in the past 20 years. It was a lot better when I came in…. Wait a minute…. Maybe I was the trigger?

The red was what I saw, after realizing that they screwed me again. Crappy part is, it’s not good that I plugged it right at the edge, next to the sidewall. Not good for the belts!
