Wasn't today, but over the weekend, I installed all new brakes and front coilovers. After removing the rear rotors, this is what they looked like....

Hopefully, that gets rid of the terrible shimmy the car gets, when I apply the brakes at highway speeds.
Why change them? They have metal left on them! Well on one side at least?

I tested the components for my factory navigation retrofit, found something to be continuously blowing fuse 58 (10amp trunk fuse).. also found fuse 56 (30amp trunk fuse) blown too. Replaced both, F58 blew again.
Pulled out ALL of the wiring in the left side of the trunk and went through the WDS to see what components were attached to the fuse. Pulled the K3 unloader relay out also, tested it and it was working fine. Traced it back to a thick red/green wire that was powering the DSP amp was chaffing against the body behind the amp and shorting out against the body. Cleaned up all the wiring and re-tested all my retrofit components, all work great.
Looks like ill be going forward with a full MK4 nav retrofit with the latest version BM53. I have 2015 nav dvds.. its more of a novelty to even install this, i really just want to address the eye sore that is the E39 center console without a wide screen monitor.

Replaced transmission oil with ZF original parts, also added Dr.Tranny just to be sure.
Also replaced faded rear tail light, to a brighter one.

and sadly no old BMW anymore, only high powered Seat Leon Cupra 4Drive as a daily driver.
Consider using an OBM radio from a late E83 X3 or E85 Z4 - it’s a better and more reliable radio.

Mine is out of a 2006 330Ci ZHP .. its the latest BM53 radio that is Sirius and MP3 compatible and I want to retain my Sirius
*edit* Thanks for that video, i hadn't seen it yet even though I've been all up and down E39source lately with the navigation stuff... I may indeed do the switch to one of those radios over this BM53

Replaced all four wheel sensors today to get rid of yellow abs warning lights on dash. Now to try and figure out why my self leveling suspension light is still on. Let the trouble shooting began.
Front and rear suspension refresh on my daily driver with fresh wheel alignment, new rear brakes (pads and Brembo rotors) and adjusted my parking brake (6 clicks on each side). Whole different car. It's the second time I've refreshed the front and rear suspension. It only had a little under 50,000 miles since the last time and I didn't think it needed it but, since I was doing the same thing to my project car, I though I'd refresh them both.
I found one ball joint (right rear) a little worn. Probably because I nicked the rubber boot when I installed it years ago.
Now, my daily should be good for several years until something breaks (I'm looking at you, timing chain and clutch).
Still have much work to go on my project car (the other 540i). Figuring out new shocks and struts and still have the timing chain to do.

Test fit for sound deadening on the rear parcel shelf before I reinstall my BavSound Stage 1 speakers. I know it's overkill but it only took about 20 minutes to cut and fit the mat. I'll peel off the back and roll it tomorrow.

Old sunroof seal started dropping at the passenger side rear corner, had a new one on the shelf and finally made time....
Taped down the deflector to work.
Old sticky gunk... lots of plastic razor blade and finger nail work at first.
Goo-Gone didn’t make a dent, so off to the Depot for some Acetone. Nice and clean now.
New seal on and trimmed. Have a couple spots a c-hair high but quite pleased overall.

Just ordered the Bavsound speaker upgrade for my dd 540i6 (princess). Almost got a second set for my project car (Pea, only spelled with two e's) but I need to get the suspension (shocks and struts) and timing chain repairs completed before I give her a "treat".

Replaced the timing chain tensioner on my 2001 540i. I was getting a brief startup rattle and figured it would be good preventative maintenance to do. I started it up after a cold start (about 12 hours sitting) and I didn't hear the rattle! I'm hoping it was that simple but I'm going to give it a week or so before I call it.
I've heard of others who have replaced it and the rattle came back after some time. At the very least, I know the part has been replaced. To be fair, the old part still felt like it had a decent amount of spring in it compared to videos I had seen where the piece was barely moving.
If it turns out to still have the rattle, I understand it could then be the VANOS which is a repair job that's above my skillset, unfortunately.

Replaced all 8 spark plugs with Bosch Platinum+ plugs and finally changed the ignition coils with the red BavAuto performance ones.
Tomorrow I plan to neatly re-do the fog light harnesses with the new plugs and terminal connectors I just got... they were hacked up from an very old xenon fog light kit which I've retired.

Curious to hear your thoughts on the red coils. They’re among the few things I didn’t replace yet.

Did this job over the past three days. Replaced the leaking coolant pipes under the intake manifold. While I was in there I replaced the oil filter housing gasket, all vacuum lines, and the entire CCV system.
Replaced my badly worn tailgate lights, swapped in fresh bulbs, cleaned rear plate light lens and replaced those too.
