Needs more work. I bought the base coat from a different company this time, and it's rather obvious that they didn't mix the paint properly to achieve the hue of alpine white III (talking about the Hamann fog covers).
I'm almost done re-doing them with a can of leftover paint I had purchased a while back that matches the car perfectly:

I was thinking the work would be difficult and time consuming, because of all the metal cutting and welding...
I am definitely talking to other shops.

My '97 540i-6 was totaled 2 years ago. It had 230,000 miles. The right rear quarter panel was a little dented and the clear coat was starting to peal on the roof and trunk. Didn't look so good but drove great.

At first the other guy's adjuster was going to give me just $2,000, but he could tell it was mechanically good. He said he'd take into account recent expenses, of which I had about $1,000 in parts alone.

After some discussion he offered $3,000 if they took my car for scrap; $2,500 if I kept it, which I did. (I can be hard on engines but I'm easy on clutches and transmissions. Eventually I'm going to pull that good tranny for the '02 540-6 I got as a replacement. I've easily pulled more than $500 in parts from that car.)

Your car sure doesn't look totaled to me, and if they say it is, I bet you can get it from them and get it fixed.

Finally fixed that annoying dead bulb in the instrument cluster. So now my odometer is better illuminated, dead pixels and all ;-)

I used to have a pair of gloss black bought from amazon on my 528 and they fit perfectly. However when driving I could hear the gloss black kidneys hitting the auxiliary fan.

Returned them after and went with OEM.

What is the max width rims to fit in the back on E39? 10"? Thinking of what rims to get next.

On E38 I had 11" rim with 15mm spacer (ET0) and was just a little rubbing.

Gloss Black kidneys (I stupid tried to pry them apart, but after almost breaking them, noticed it just need to be pushed in...) My way, first break something then think
D2S Lunex xenon bulbs 6000K
Cheap LED Angel eyes
Fixed my front fog lights, they didn't work.
Added a little coolant, sometimes car said Coolant Low (maybe sensor glitch, as it was almost full, atleast the stick was almost to the max)

Took the 530 to the Marine Corps Ball last night. I mean, I took my girlfriend to the Ball. Yeah...my girlfriend. Definitely a smooth ride through Pasadena when your a drunk passenger

I drove my 530i5 for the first time since I bought the M5. A few notes:
- Wow, R&P steering is heavy. Way heavier than the steering box. Feedback is about the same either way.
- The I6 is definitely a smoother engine. It doesn't have the same rumble as the V8 - good and bad.
- The comfort seats don't hold you in the corners nearly as well, but are indeed more comfy. Way easier to climb in and out of, too.
- The M5 gauge cluster is much, much nicer. The standard cluster feels like it was made by Playskool now.
- There's now a feeling of "is that it?" when it you go full throttle.

Put in a (OEM) silver ring gauge bezel and compass mirror from an E53 X5 . Nice lil OEM bits.

I snagged a compass/dimming mirror off of a 2016 X5, it doesn’t have the red mini bubble gum alarm light on it, it’s got the newer grey flat piece instead.

Swapped to 16” wheels for winter. Pulled caliper slides and re-greased my brass bushings. Got some leftover loaded up pad material out from the wear groove on all pads as well. Otherwise still look new.

So smooth around town with all the sidewall... but had to order some shorter wheel bolts. Gonna ditch the 10mm spacers up front with the small wheels.
