I restored a set of RC041s for my E36. Did my own powder coating, removed the clear coat & polished the lips, and zinc plated the hardware. Same process for the Style 42s. I periodically (once a month) use Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish and they stay looking clean and fresh.

Nice!
I'm a fan of Meguiar's products (nearly every detailing item I own is from them), so I used their metal finishing polish to achieve my results.
And I went ahead and ordered the aforementioned Wolfgang MetallWerk Concours Metal Sealant. Should be here in a week or so. I'll post updates.
Meguiar’s professional products are indeed excellent. I have a variety of their products.

Washed them today. The M5 was filthy after a week of DD duty.

Hey, is that a map of China in both grills? Awesome!
On the plus side I don't have to hot wire the car to start it. The mid-sized Portasol iron doubles as a handy little heat gun (heats up kinda slow though and no view of the catalyst with the hot air tip on). On the minus side the INA/Continental tensioner assembly that Rock Auto x-refs for the later M62TUs doesn't fit. It's about 6.25mm too long and bottoms out when I try to put the old belt on it. Does anyone know if the "fixed" pulley is attached with a right-hand threaded screw?
While debating on reinstalling the old tensioner, I realized the upper oil pan is wet with fresh BMW coolant. The thermostat is nice and dry despite the one stripped screw.
On the E46 side the tard I tried to rent a wheel bearing tool from dicked around with my money for a week and waited for me to inform him I had no time to use the tool and needed a refund before shipping something my way. At least that one's not pissing out too much coolant though.
Sold the E39 last week, picked up a 12 4Runner and had been driving that for about 2 months. Between alternating through that and our 335i F30 I had no interest in keeping the E39, especially with guides right around the corner. Still have the M62 X5 (new guides and vanos).
Enjoying very much all the traveling that comes with not being in the garage stuck fixing BMW's.

Not sure how you can drive any Toyota after owning an E39, but whatever sinks your submarine, bro.

I mean I barely work on my 540it these days... haven’t done anything major in a while. Doesn’t leak at all either
That being said, I get bored if a car doesn’t need anything, I like fixing stuff. I hate my girlfriend’s Hyundai, it pretty much never breaks. My friend’s girlfriend has an E36 which we’re always fixing and it’s tons of fun.

I own a Toyota and a BMW. Best of both worlds

Just picked this 03 540i up cheap, 130k and 2 owners but was surely one bad owner away from the junkyard so I rescued it. Fixed driver seat twist, replaced blown struts with coilovers I had laying around, new chain tensioner and oil/oem filter, restored headlights and got a couple tires replaced. Gonna fix a few more things and find it a home where it will be cared for. She runs STRONG.
