No, I gave dealership a pic of serial number. They checked with corporate and they said to replace it.

hey thanks man! I didn’t think they’d honor our cars that got parts put on by us. So I’m gonna pull the bag and take a picture of the serial number on mine.

I don't think their thrilled about it,but the liability would be huge if the bag is bad and they refused to replace it.

    Had mine done. No issues.

Also, new driveshaft a definite improvement. I suspect I have a axle going though. Everything else being so smooth now helps highlight it.

    Aftermarket or OE reman....

Exactly, that’s what I was saying to some friends over here. I mean, it is an airbag that falls in the recall zone, and whats it matter if it’s not in the original car, they made it, it was released, they recalled it, I would think that they would be obligated to cover it, in the name of safety.

Agreed, If they wouldn't replace it I would of had them put it in writing.

Hm, maybe I should bother BMW about the facelift M5 steering wheel in my otherwise non-recall range car (late 99 build). A fresh airbag for free would look reaaaaal nice

Sallvage yard for the bmw and expedition found a m sport steering wheel almost had it removed when I realized it was a dual stage air bag very disappointing. Though I feel a bit better because I ran into a dynavin n6 with all wiring GPs antenna and mic. So hopefully it works it needs volume knobs and a harness for my order e39

Update: #1 it's so annoying that every time I try and edit my post anywhere I click activates the delete post button on my phone 😡

Update: #2 rigged up a tester for the dynavin to a battery it booted, played music in the one speaker I had hooked up, connected bluetooth, made a call, turned radio. So I'm optimistically hoping it's truly working and will integrate easily.

Diff swap I did while back and now ECU software tuned. It has made a huge improvement on 528iA. It doesn't feel so slow after my 730d anymore.

That's a lovely m sport. Is that one of the individual colour interiors?

Finally pulling off the front of mine tonight to work on issues arising from the kangaroo incident up near Cairns. Will also be doing besian vanos overhaul, bonnet cable replacement throughout, valve cover gasket, vanos oil line replacement and cam shaft sensor o ring replacement while I'm in there.

If anyone is looking for a good work light I can recommend the Hella Nova 5k (sold as scangrip outside Australia). No more boiling hot work light, 5000 lumes of brightness, and can run off rechargable battery or mains power.

Copper collar nuts arrived yesterday so I spent 20 minutes under the car to back out zinc flange nuts I put on and screwed the copper collar nuts on, tightened them up by hand, fire it up, she is quite now, a proper fix finally!

Still need to change oil and replace oil pan gasket, hope I don't see anything bad when I drop the oil pan.

Thank you. She actually isnt a proper M Sport. The previous owner had done the bumpers. He also dyed the interior this way. Its amazing work

Real lucky as far as hitting kangaroos go. Only the bar and some other plastics damaged.

Not exactly E39 related, but as of today, I have officially enlisted forum celebrity Danny Zabolotny, to help me with the chain guides on my X5. The car is too clean too sell for dirt cheap to start over and buy another high priced X5 that needs a bunch of work.

We booked his airfare today and agreed on a price for the labor. Time and time again Danny has been able to help answer technical questions not only here, but in our BMW WhatsApp group chat. I'm confident in his ability and experience.

I plan on bringing him out again when it's time for the 540 guides

Replaced the expansion tank (last cooling system refresh part), valve cover gasket, adjusted parking brake, replaced reverse light bulb and repaired the SAP exhaust engine pipe. Clutch is next on the list as the bimmer has 225k and I don't think the clutch has ever been replaced.

Valley Pan. Took about 9 hours over last 3 days. No leaks, no drips, no errors. Just hot and humid so worked 7 am to 10 am each day before too hot.

Had the water pump to radiator hose blow out 45+ miles away from home. Had to had to go to two different auto store (including walking to one a mile away and back). Spent about 4 hours total bringing it back to life...

So, installed a metal T fitting in it's place, replaced the AC fan, and replaced the cowl......oh, and a burnt out fog light on saturday.

Replaced the center link. Suspension refresh finally done!

Also moved the wagon to a staggered set up with some Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ on style 66 rims. Looks badass and drives great.

Did my center link a week ago, so glad I did - was the last part of the puzzle.
