Actually I like running the snowblower... just not if I'm out of town/country and miss the storm and come back to find its all melted and crusted over and the snowblower doesn't work...
Setho whats that processor deal you're using to output channels to your amps?
That seems like it'd work pretty great. Maybe the sedan side covers don't latch in as tight as the Touring but I can't see the touring cover ever being pulled off. And for track events you just pop it out on purpose and toss it on the tarmac and you're done.

First... are you sure you got one of the correct manifolds? I've seen guys buy M62TU manifolds sold as upgrades and be ready to "swap" them in (for an identical unit).
Second... its been said repeatedly by the sensible, but sometimes drowned out by groupthink, that it is not without a tradeoff loss for a TU. Small, yes, worth-it, probably/possibly/depends-on-user, but not insignificant. There's a reason BMW put that mani on the TU's and its like a 'high rise' SBC/SBF V8 manifold - its built for low RPM torque vs wind-out, and it actually does that. Guys who say "and I lost nothing!" have malfunctioning buttdynos. Guys who say "that manifold was just for mileage/emissions" are morons. You lose a scosch of torque down low in return for wind-out.
And that said, I honestly respect somebody who is willing to admit against the herd-mentality that for their driving the non-VANOS manifold is a negative. Could easily be the case and honestly a stock Steptronic-TU car has a lot to say for it for a daily on real-street-driving-criteria (as opposed to imaginary race-car driver criteria)... I've often thought I shoulda left my Touring near-stock and done most of my mods on a Sedan as the non-daily... (I'd still do an LSD to a stock Steptronic car...)

Fun times?
That's the worse, been there done that too many times. The wind blows the snow back in your face.
Then when it finally starts to melt it freezes at night so the driveway is a sheet of ice.
The last winter (2014-2015) I lived in MA was the straw that broke the camels back. Every 3-4 days it snowed and it wasn't 2-3".

Yep. That year was brutal. I was just talking about it w/ a neighbor. Its easy to forget that we didn't have hardly any snow at all actually even into February, then it was just one 3 foot snowfall after another. I have crazy pictures. The snow bank off my deck was piled up 6 feet from deck level, so, 9-11' from the ground I would climb up on it and be higher than the bottom of my roof. We also had an 7-8' free standing snowdrift in the yard just from the massive wind scouring those huge snowfalls into a 'dune' of snow.

Man, these winter stories sound awful. Here I was in a bad mood because maintenance didn't plow the parking lots until 2pm the other day.
On a lighter note, I got a few birthday presents for the e39. I got a Rockford Fosgate P600X4 amp, and a set of Infinity Reference REF-5020cx for the doors. She didn't get the rear speakers I requested, so I'll pick those up later.

Installed rear M5 subframe reinforcements and M5 rear sway bar with new bushings and links yesterday morning.
Nice improvement and change in feel of the car is about as much as going from 17s to 18 inch wheels - more than nominal but very subtle.
Been meaning to reply on this one...
I assume "CC" is a catch can ??
Think you could re-task the cold climate ccv heater kit for the M62's to do the warming of the CC ?
See bulletin 11 01 04
Part number 11 61 0 390 846 should be avail from dealer still (??)
PM me and maybe I could help you with a heater system for it as well.

That is a pricey heater, but yeah, that's the idea I was going for. Neat to see bmw has the same idea. Thanks for sharing that info. I was thinking electric like that, or a wrap of copper tubing heated by coolant. I see 12v dc heated wraps on ebay. Not sure which way I'm going or if I'll pursue it atm. Thanks for your offer of help!

Wow, pretty pricey, lots of other 12v heaters can be had for much less.

Hot engine coolant might be the best way to go.
wowza !! no kidding. I don't recall it being that much for that wrap..!!! But...I think I'll call my homies at the dealer and see what they run. That blanket from ECS looks like it's a rep and more plug-n-play than the part listed in the TSB. Yeah, I'd be making my own heating blanket at that point...lol !! I like the coolant-warmed option, but it's performance is based upon coolant temp, and it's slow... as well as it introducing a minimum of two new leak points. I like the thought of reversing the operation of a fuel cooler. (???) Instead of putting ice in the canister and having fuel run through the tube routed inside the canister, just flip it...run coolant through the tube and modify the canister to be the CC. It's the size of the typical fuel cooler that would keep anyone from doing that. But...if you have mad welding skills, a receiver/driver from an s/c system might be a nifty item to start modding.
I've been half-arsed designing a 12v system that could be installed on the I6's (as well as heated washer fluid lines)....just haven't had the time to sink any real teeth into the project.
