I also removed my LED halos. They seemed to mess with the auto headlights. The low beams were always running no matter how bright it was outside. Swapped back to OEM and all seems fine again. Not sure how/why this would make a difference.

Finally ordered some adapters so I can use my fog lights after swapping in the M5 front bumper.

Hi All. It's good to be back in the enthusiast spirit (Just don't tell my wife). Recently purchased a 3/1999 528iT and I've been getting it up to par these last few weeks.
In the last month on the "new" touring:
Mechanical:
Shocks
Rear Airbags
Cooling System overhaul
PCV
Alternator (preventative maintenance)
Starter (preventative maintenance)
Tailgate struts and rear window struts
Also Finally replaced the rear window wiper blade
Audio:
Ordered one of these pre-fab 10" sub enclosures for an audio upgrade
GROM Bluetooth adapter (love this in my 530i, also had it in my 528i)
Interior:
Installed Euro armrest with storage compartment
Installed M5 Titan line interior trim (from sold 528)
Recieved and installed these window shades from Europe
Eurodash to be re-installed (also from old 528) next week in conjunction with audio work
Exterior:
Took off Style 5 wheels for the winter and put on 16" Style 29's with Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires for the winter

Haha, I have Bimmer Merchant's number, I just haven't gotten around to yanking out the nice black interior pieces yet. Door cards, and it'll be gone.

1) added another Qt. of oil...seems we're back to consuming one every 1000 miles again....ugh....
2) purchased a poor-mans BBK. Picked up front calipers, pads, rotors, and brackets from a guy parting an 03/540 touring on CL. (GREAT guy...good experience...and mine needs a caliper so why not 'upgrade'....). Brought the brackets and misc hardware into the office today so I could run them in the media blaster to get 'em all cleant up. Will do the same thing for the calipers, then install new piston seal and boot for each. Might paint them but am NOT into making things look cheesy. I thought yellow would look kinda cool against the car color...but leaning towards maybe silver or gold so it's clean looking but not like "hey....I just painted my $#!t red to make them look like Brembos..."

Cleaned out the garage enough to fit two cars in it. Now that the Supra is back home, the E39 can stay in there too.

Finally got the car back rides like it’s on rails. Brakes very well and goes straight down the road. Now I just gotta find out what’s wrong with my left rear speed sensor wire so I have a speedo and figure out why my passenger front sounds like a helicopter at speed I assume I have some loose plastic over there. Then on to other things but so happy to be done with the suspension debacle
Noticed some larger drops of oil on my driveway. Looks like the oil pan gasket finally needs to be changed. Pulling out all those bookmarked pages to start reading

Ah yes the life of my e39 never ends more problems found this morning I think my wife might make me get rid of it if I don’t fix the issues soon already have too much in the car and e39 sounds like a wonderful project car but a frustrating single dd car
thanks for the tip on the rotors setho !! now I just have to remember they are on there so I get the right stuff.....haha....!!
That being said, I'll share a story:
On my old gsxr, I run a rear wheel and cush drive from a gsxr1100. One year when I replaced the drivetrain, I picked up my new "special order" parts, went home, pulled the bike apart, and started the install. I find that the rear chainwheel only has 5 bolt holes..! No gonna fit the 6-bolt cush-drive I was staring at...hmpf..!!! I was like WTF man...!!?? These guys were kinda jerks anyways, and now I'm really hot 'cause they ordered the wrong stuff !! I think this was the 4th time I replaced the chain/chainwheel set so ordering these mix-n-match parts was old hat for me by now. Oh no...it was all on me...I just flat brain-faded and ordered a rear chainwheel for a 750. An unwelcome, but well earned, 20% re-stocking fee and another week off the road and I was good to go.
