    Of course! .0030, within specs. Had to swap the snap rings from one side to the other, as the snap rings are different thicknesses and what they use to set back lash. Drives smooth, hooks well. Will see tomorrow how much my 60' improves

    The unit is made by M Factory. Bought it from Synchrotech Transmissions here in SoCal, but even ECS sells the unit. Paint was a bit tacky, as I didn't bother prepping well as I was on a time crunch

    Do the I6 E39s have a differential that can accommodate this unit, too? Or would I need to make other changes to the rear end? I like the 2.93 ratio with my 5-speed.

    They have a unit for the i6 models. These setups dont change your gearing at all. They just change the spider gear assembly.

    Pulling these numbers out of my head so I'm not sure, but I think i6 diffs are 188mm, v8s are 210 (215?). If there's not a small case last unit, the V8 diff will fit with a modified/spliced DS.

    Some of this information may be wrong, it's been a solid year, year and a half since I've messed with e39 diffs

    Yes, I6 have 188mm ring gear while the V8's came with 210mm. I believe the 540i had a 215/220mm gear. E46 M3, E32 750il, E39 M5 have the 210mm gear.

    Installed my 88c thermostat, runs at 93-95 now was running at 108-108 before. Hopefully there are no leaks anywhere.

    Good call. I'm running the 90°C here, and dont see more than 194°F even with the SC and intercooler Heat exchanger. Picked up a Setrab 25 row oil cooler, time to save for the lines

    Did you buy the one specified for the M5?

    You were exactly right. From 13.3xx to 13.06. There is one for the 540i. Last 3 of the part number is E92

    Ohhhhhh, my only drawback to the 528i was the lack of a LSD..... don't know why BMW stopped putting lsd unless it was an M car. Even my old e21, e30, and e28 had them as options....

    It had something do with the introduction of DSC I believe. So they'd simulate an LSD with DSC electronics

    Dragged and tested the MFactory LSD. Picked up 3/10ths. Few minor tweaks and ill be into the 12s. Shame that Fontana has a bit of a grade
