Hopefully it's only a one weeker. He's had a temp ban or two already, hasn't he?

Put a new thermostat cover in place, with a new o-ring for the thermostat, on the 528i. After sleeping on it, I decided to take it off tonight and test the thermostat by "boiling it". After all, something led to the leaking from the lower corner of the thermostat cover (the one on the side of the thermostat). Maybe the thermostat is working right and this led to a pressure build up.

I got that super popular DSC light on the dash. Went around speed sensors to test them and found that my right side output shaft is leaking grease and it went all over. BMW rebuilt is like $600 which is insane so I went with that DSS brand (the only aftermarket brand) for like $90. Swapped the axles and it runs great and hopefully it last a lifetime (no so sure about it for $90).
Exactly... he's on & offline... just banhammered for the moment. Just a bit of good ol' shite talking back and forth in da 'different cold air' thread. I'm sure he's got plenny else to keep him bizzy.
I wish I'd get banned. I'd have a lot more time on my hands, prob get helluvalot more stuff done.

Noticed a vibration like shimmy on my drive into work today, the Entire freeway has just recently been replaced so it should be a nice smooth drive but it’s not. Contemplating replacing the control arms and getting an alignment to see if that helps. Or maybe just skip the control arms? Car almost has 170k but I don’t feel like throwing a ton of money at it to replace every single suspension component.

If you guys think it will make a huge difference replacing it, I’m all for it. Can’t be much harder than the control arms in the e46.

Depending on whether performance or cost is your goal, I strongly recommend getting a road force balance ($30 where I am) before doing anything. I did the full suspension at 100K because I had the time to do it, and wanted to. Afterwards, I still had some speed specific vibrations. Road force balance, and everything was perfect. At 170K, your suspension is definitely shot, but if your not looking to break the bank, a road force balance may be "good enough for now".

Got some xenon lights from the 2000 540 I have in the junk yard and installed them on my 99 540i. They needed a lot of work, like broken adjusters, broken socket, broken housing clip, missing boots. I ended up using the lens cover from my halogen headlights and the housing from the xenon. Turned out pretty good. I will polish or replace the lenses later.

1. What is the prybar test for control arms and does it apply to the 528i as well.
2. went to the scrap yard today they got in a 2000 528 I think it was 2 days ago unfortunately just my luck it was already stripped by time I get there but luckily I was able to snag a pretty nice set of style 82's which in my book are worlds better than my style 29's.
3. grabbed a non dented hood now just need m5 bumpers and a respray.
4.ordered a central lock button to try and solve that problem.
5. admitted to myself finally my rack is likely leaking and as much as I keep telling my wife otherwise here soon we may be into the e39 for more than its worth.

Yes, according to the VIN Look-up link.
He is complaining about your smack talk, but literally all he does...on a daily basis....is talk smack....to every possible person he can.
I dont think the bans teach him anything other than adding to his egotistical old man crisis.
I wouldn't worry about it, potatoes gonna potate.
He will be back doing the same nonsense at some point. The man has like 10 e39s, he is never going to leave this forum.
Thanks for the explanation I'll have to do that soon everything else on the suspension feels tight on a shakedown.
I do believe so I replaced the reservoir and haven't ran it since but I did lazy wash it and while the fluid on the outside of the rack is gone the fluid inside the boots have done nothing and I have a hard time believing at that it fell in there from a different leak.
doesn't hurt I found a lifetime warranty rack on Amazon for $204
I think we've all had our run ins with someone we don't particularly assimilate with, I was perma-banned at one point for not getting along with one or more members here. At the end of the day, it's important to remember why we come to this forum. :P

I don't see the point in starting drama, we're all here to enjoy our cars. It's funny because when I go to car shows in person everyone's super respectful, but for some reason people get a little too saucy when they're behind a computer. For what it's worth I don't have any problems with anybody here, y'all are cool.
