I got about 15y from the OEM battery. Phenomal really. Of course Famously these days battery brand don't mean crap, they are all made by Exide or JCI or one of the other 3-4 major Primary manufacturers. There used to be tables and references to back track that but seems like they all mix and match sourcing now so you can't never be too sure anymore (aka "diehard platinum = JCI" kind of stuff isn't reliable anymore). At the moment I have 2 autocrafts myself... One an AGM. Seem good but I'm not fanboizing them yet. Let's see how they do.

I did get the old style DW, I actually remember getting a really good deal on them because they were being discontinued at the time. I might go with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 for the rears, that's what I've had in the front and I've been very happy with them. I always did notice that I got significantly more vibration in the rear tires right after doing a power slide or any kind of maneuver where I would drag the tires around.
I'd get an M62B46 then, you get 340hp without doing any special work. Then if you want to do add more power through headers/intake/FI, you have a much hotter platform to start from.
Here in Arizona we're lucky to get 3-4 years out of any battery... the heat kills them, especially if your car sits outside in the sun all day like mine does (no covered parking at work).
1995 525i 5-speed - Thread
Interestingly Exide's headquarters is located here in Clayton, NC. I was tempted to directly go there and buy one from them.
Yeah, same here. I bought them because they were significantly cheap compared to other brands with similar performance. Read a number of reviews and saw near 5 star ratings which convinced me enough to buy them. Sadly, just like the good old 'oil threads' or the 'akebono vs other brands' thread, I was left disappointed with its actual performance. I had vibrations at the typical 50-60mph range and sometimes above 70mph, having soft sidewall meant poor handling, not so excellent traction in the rain, and finally they didn't last for a long time.
I'd have to do special work as my car is a non vanos one, and the M62B46 is dual vanos.
I'm not so keen on rewiring the car to run vanos as I would be to build a hot engine by blending the best of two different engine types.
However... If I could do a vanos delete, then I'd be more interested, but to my knowledge, that's something that hasn't been achieved yet.
Putting the M60 heads on the M62B46 though could have merit.

Did most of my cooling system refresh and started putting her back together.
Looked around for alternatives the the style 29s that are on the car and found slim pickings for my tiny budget. Might be fielding some style 5s too poor for aftermarket worst case the style 29s will get new tires.
That's the first mod I did to my '97 540j.
Sand beige seats from a '01 740il.
Took me a day, because I had to change the seat wiring harness for the new seats.
Looks good, matches the interior and all seat functions work...except my airbag/seatbelt light is stuck on.
Paid less than a $100 including solder & materials to do both front seats.

I got the 16 way comfort seats out of a really clean '01 740, put them into my '00 wagon, everything works except for the heating, anyone have the same issue? I'll admit, I have not really bothered to look it up yet.

I meant the battery connectors I'm new to Junkyard pulling and I seen a guy use his power drill battery connected to the positive and negitve cable to power a seat in order to get it out. So I was wondering if a jump box was the way to go for powering a car at a junkyard

Well, you need to slide the seat almost all the way back to get to the front bolts.
if you don't have a jump box, pick up a motorcycle battery or something, but then you also need to bring jumper cables, I pack light, along with the basic tools I bring, I also have this, got it from the tool truck, a Matco VersaPower Pro battery pack, totally portable, it's a small lithium pack, but this one can start an 18 wheeler if I had to, it will start a car at least ten times, the book said twenty, I call bs.
